Not with the Starbucks driver mod. Even a Bugatti can't handle a Z with that. Just ask Shado.

Don't blame me for the fact that you don't have experience.

Fact: M3 is the best bang for buck supercar under $100k.

I know I'm a day late, but referencing the GT vs Sports Car comment... The Z is most definitely a sports car, however, after taking a 400+ mile trip this weekend through the mountains I feel the Z makes a FANTASTIC GT car.

I've taken trips in a C6 Vette, S2000, and various other vehicles from family sedans to pickup trucks, and the Z was by far the best companion for a long, spirited drive. The suspension, engine character, and comfy interior really made the trip fun, and for the first time in a long time my back didn't hurt like hell after driving a few hours straight...truly awesome car.

Nooooooooooo dont get him started. The Z is a slow GT car that competes with Nissan Versa and base model civic, live it be.

agreed. GT car is a compliment IMO. I didn't buy it to be an elise.

ok, let's say that with the courses you have driven, other cars you've owned.. someone from Nissan says "hey, what would you like to see added to the car?" You say __________________? Let's say power is limited only to the current NA mods, so you can get maybe 330 whp at best when it comes to power.

Meh I don't like that question. Power is what I would want more of. Then weight reduction + balance. Also an actual DCT. Basically I want a lighter GT-R :bowrofl:

try this website: www.autocrossers.org - Autocrossers.org

Looks like I will have to go with the Capital Driving Club since their events are on Saturdays. Only thing is I don't want to go too far that early in the morning. Will wait till it's in Bowie in October.

I think I said this earlier, but the things I would want changed are these.

Slight tweaking of engine/different engine. I want something with better top end behavior (the NVH up high is pretty bad). I could live without this if the other items were changed.

Oil cooler and diff cooler available from the factory. Both of these are much needed items. Most people don't know about the diff, but it tends to overheat something terrible with any hard driving.

Real LSD available from factory--preferably a Torsen. The VLSD doesn't cut it for real driving.

The biggest thing though, would be the weight distro/inherent understeer. I think if they could drop a few pounds from the engine, or move it an inch or two back, the car would be brilliant. I could forgive the other shortcomings if they did that.

The Z really has a brilliant chassis-- it's very stiff, and inspires confidence. A few small changes and it really could have been a home run IMO. I think that with the same setup, but the engine back an inch or so, we'd see the Z tearing some stuff up.

I think Bowie would be the most close to me... even it's well over an hour though... that sucks. We have friggen Dover downs like 30 min from me and no track there or anywhere in the De area?

Closest road courses are Summit Point Raceway in WV and VIR, I think.

So you don't think the 53/47 current weight distribution is good enough?

If it were me, I would lose about 200 lbs from the car, max out the NA mods, maybe beef up the sway bars, and of course the oil cooler is going to be needed... though I did 3 VERY hard runs tonight after the car was already warmed up and it just hit 220... but it's pretty cool tonight and it's not lap after lap either. Pads would be needed. I wouldn't spend some 800.00 for Nismo pads however I can tell you that much. I think that would be quite a nice handling machine.

I want to go there too. I think Watkins Glen would be a REALLY fun track to run.. it's in NY which is pretty far, but if I had a weekend, i'd like to go there... I guess they let you run? I don't even know.

Coming from an s2000, I will tell you the Z probably leaves a second or so on the table with the current weight distribution. 53/47 is actually pretty shitty for a RWD 'sports car'

I think factory sways aren't that bad tbh. It'd be nice if the rear was stiffer though.

Pads are something you always change for the track. Nobody runs track pads on the street. I don't really care what pads a car comes with, I'm gonna take 10 minutes and switch them at the track.

Weight is reasonable for what the car is. Dropping 200 lbs and you lose stiffness or comfort--neither is really an option. Of course, in an ideal world, it would be great.

I never got to run it. Hoping to take the subaru out sometime, for both the track and the rallyX they do there. Hopefully I will be in nova while something is going on.

Overall for what I use the car for which right now is simply having an awesome looking sports car that is quick and I like the fact that it's a V6 that redlines at 7500 rpm. It's comfortable and capable. The OE tires are pretty sticky and it's made turns I thought it would have more trouble with. I have been very surprised by just adding the ART pipes... it was like when I added a tune to my Evo X. It just woke the car up soooo much. I have to say with all of talk of classes and such, the 370 looks better, is more comfortable and is better quality that my X could ever have hoped to be. The cheapness Mitsu puts into the Evo over time really starts to get to you... at least it did me. I had almost 400 whp out of it too... still like the Z better.

Yeah. The Z is great for that. They classed up the interior a bunch, and the car is one of the better looking cars under 40k IMO.

It's a great car if you can appreciate it for what it is. For 99% of owners, track performance doesn't matter. For those that care about it, well, most of them have moved to other cars...doesn't make the Z any less awesome at what it is.
