I don't think anyone asked what "all over the place" meant here.
Do you specifically mean you break traction all the time, traction/lateral movement in the rear or do you have epic oversteer all the time? If it's just traction, you could fix with getting your alignment checked for camber. If you're all over like the last two examples, make sure they look at the toe on your car. Other than alignment, make sure VDC is on for your style of driving or get wider tread for your rear wheels. I think you can go up to 305 but make sure your sidewalls are stiff in the tire you choose. Just my 2c |
Off the line is my real issue when I am screwing around having fun in the car. VDC is always on unless I want to be really stupid. I think I am going to get an LSD.
How much difference will tires make? On a dry warm day with RE-11 or something similar am I going to still break loose if I dump it from a slight roll? Slowly paying down bills so I can buy LSD |
Tire width, compound and weather conditions dictate possible grip... Driving style and low end torque, which we got, will dictate how easy you can break that grip. At least that's what I've learned and I'd be happy to hear a correction. :)
I got the Sport package on my Z so I got a Viscous LSD but it's an OEM one. I hear Quaife LSDs are good. Since you're pretty close to me I'd recommend contacting IntecRacing for advice. I see a bunch of people from the Portland area coming up for tunes and such. Also I go there solely. Great people and they know what they're talking about. Especially considering they deal with slip a lot with the drift drivers they sponsor. :) |
hm. I got the same stock advans, mods and I rarely every break traction in 2nd gear when I punch it.
