Hi, i went to Mcmaster-carr.com to look for a similar spring to the century spring.
I found part number 9657K253. it's almost identical to the century spring same dims/spring rate and material but i'ts 12.12 per pack of 6.

has anyone tried this spring?
only thing i'm unsure is the Compressed length. it might fatigue sooner that the stock spring, but i doubt it.

^^Won't fit. You take the OD - 2x(wire size) to get the ID. You end up with something like .78" which is not enough to fit that hat into (that's at the top of the spring).

ThisX1000. Just removed it right now. I had my car for a year and still couldn't shift smoothly but now I'm shifting perfectly after a 5 minute drive lol

I got the new spring and removed the bottom bolt with the clutch pushed in and the bottom would not come loose...yes i removed the bolt completely, i tried to wiggle it but it would not come out....??? wtf?

Jsolo 09-27-2012 07:51 PM

Wiggle it while the pedal is depressed to the floor. It should come loose.

...i dont need to take the top out to get the spring out right?

If you like torture you can. Mine got lost behind the plastic panels. Not fun taking them off to retrieve it. All you need is the bottom pin removed.

mwhit02 09-28-2012 11:23 AM

if anyone who removed this would like to sell me one, i would appreciate it. I like the feeling with it installed, but unfortunately I damaged mine taking it out. Actually, the only part I really need is the bottom piece that the pin slides through (along with the pin inself). I will paypal you for your time and trouble.

I cannot get this pin to freely slide in:

i think you just need to sand paper bumps off the pin and you're good

My doctor told me the same thing about my...well, nevermind. I'll give it a try
