Default Oil Filter Sandwich Plate

I'm installing a 34-row oil cooler today. My '17 Nismo Tech has an OEM sandwich plate that (I believe) works with the stock coolant system. Should I be stacking the Mocal sandwich plate on top of the OEM plate or eliminating the stock plate?

That is the factory oil cooler ...most people remove it when adding the aftermarket oil cooler .....you can keep it and add the new sandwich plate on top of it ......I kept mine... it does help even with the aftermarket cooler ....I noticed with just after market cooler I was seeing oil temp rising 225-230 ish during more aggressive driving but it would quickly drop back down to 210 ish after I eased off ....and during winter time it would take a good while of driving to get the temp up to 190. So I added the factory cooler back in which made the aggressive driving temp barely hit 220 and normal driving temp is 210 ish in the summer months. For winter it heats ( due to engine coolant heating up faster than the oil which brings the oil temp to match around 190-200 )the oil up faster to operating temp and it runs around 200-205
...which is the main reason I added it back...my car is also boosted so the effects may be different ...however winter time will still be slower to get to temp

Thanks. I kept the stock sandwich plate and stacked the Mocal on top. Everything is a pretty tight fit but seems doable.

I keep mine. It becomes an oil warmer in the winter lol

Removed the OEM sandwich plate. While having both the OEM system in addition to the aftermarket cooler results in lower oil temps, I found the space was too restrictive to offer easy access to the oil filter for oil changes. I installed a u-shaped silicone coolant hose to recirculate the coolant that is no longer going through the OEM sandwich plate.
