How to tell if you have oil consumption issues?

At about the 500 mile mark, I checked my dip stick and the oil was very close to the top dot. How do you tell if you have a consumption

After about 1200 miles and/or first oil change, take note of the oil level. If you are losing more than .5 qt every 1000 miles after that, keep an eye on it.

Also, see the TSB for the G oil consumption issues , which has specific guidelines...

Consider yourself lucky!!!!! U r not using oil.

I would check regularly, though.
