Started my car today and couldn't get into 1st gear..took couple of tries and it got into gear. On the way to the appointment on the highway, my pedal sunk to the floor while trying to shift into 5th gear. It wouldn't let me shift out of 4th at all and I had to slow down on the side and rolled until I stalled....

Had to tow to dealership and is getting checked out. Receiving a call tomorrow...

2016 Base Coupe 21,000KM got the car brand new.

:shakes head:

whatever you do, dont put another factory CSC in.. get you something aftermarket, something thats proven to work..

best of luck.

Got a call back today, confirmed CSC / Master cylinder issue, was also told it was causing leaking of the clutch fluid as well. Got a rental car(Nissan Sentra lol), everything covered by warranty, gonna take them a week to fix including waiting for parts...Sigh

duuude.. ask them, if you bought an aftermarket CSC, can they install that instead of an OEM one, if you put that OEM one in, you're gonna have the same problem..:ugh2::ugh2:

I still can't believe Nissan won't fix this defective part...

I'm getting the Zspeed CMAK in a few weeks.

I'm going to ask them when I get my car back so I could do that next time it fails or when I get the kit, and hopefully they'll still cover it under warranty. I didn't order the parts as I never expected it to fail at 20,000KMS, and I don't want to leave my car at the dealership for another week or longer :(

Got my car back today. Asked if the problem happens again, if it will still be covered under warranty. Was told yes, but the problem shouldn't happen again as they "put in a brand new upgraded part" in it.

Clutch feels very smooth now, but i think the engagement point is even higher than when I got it off the lot...and a lot less "springy" feeling at the engagement point coming back up. Not sure if they changed/removed my clutch helper spring I had replaced for the OEM spring, or that I got used to the half dead clutch :ugh2:.

Anyone know if they're actually using an "upgraded" part? Ryennn, do you have the part number?

Total horse$hit ... dealers say that crap all the time. It is the same prone-to-fail CSC that's been around for 8 years now :shakes head:

Well, my 2013 with 21,000 miles just had an issue. It went to half peddle pressure Friday morning. It came back to the top with a couple of pumps but this is the tail tail sign it will be done shortly. Order a lightened flywheel and clutch kit to replace everything soon before I get stranded on the side of the road.

Here is an update just in case folks want to know about how long they have when an issue arises. I am at 27K miles and the CSC is leaking. I am seeing the fluid level drop in the reservoir. I have my new clutch kit and CSC in hand so I will be changing it out soon. I just wanted to see how far it would go after the first sign of an issue.

Kzonts 02-26-2017 01:36 PM

I'm at 27K as well but no issues. I'll be getting the CSC delete installed in a few weeks.

Spooler 02-26-2017 03:45 PM

Should I push Nissan for a resolution? I am not sure if my area's regional manager is still working or retired. I have worked with him before on customer issues back in the day when I was a Nissan Tech. I may try. It also may be a waste of my time.

Ewrjontan 02-27-2017 07:39 AM

How much are you guys paying to have the deletes/upgraded csc installed?

I have my Zspeed delete kit (still need to get a master cylinder) on hand and will be ready for it to go, but I am curious as to how much it will cost me.

If it's just the fluid level in the reservoir dropping, it's probably your master cylinder. The level drops when fluid gets past the seals - usually because of contaminants from the deteriorating CSC. When the CSC fails, it's typically catastrophic and you'll see fluid leaking from the transmission bell housing.

DIY ;) They shouldn't charge for more than 7-8 hours of labor for the transmission work. Labor is typically $80-120 per hour depending on the region.

Spooler 02-27-2017 08:54 PM

Well, my old regional service rep retired a couple of months ago. So much for that. CSC failures are not always catastrophic. I have had too many to count on older Z's. Nothing new to me. Been dealing with it since 1986. The problem now is it is in the bell housing. I checked with my parts guy and the CSC part number changed several years ago. That normally means that Nissan started using a different supplier. If they had several changes in the last couple of years that would mean they were upgrading the part. That doesn't appear to have happened.
