But it has a torque converter, so you do get more drivetrain loss than a 6MT. It may seem to shift faster but not sure it's getting the same power from the shift.

6MT usually always makes more power than AT on dyno due to AT drivetrain loss.

And when driving fast, you can shift pretty damn quickly in the MT...not to mention, you can do other things like dump the clutch and take off like mad...

You can also shift into any gear anytime with MT, in the auto you have to go thru all the gears if downshifting from 5th-2nd for example

I digress...

i'd like to debunk this old truth as well... old.

historically you'd lose ~25% or so power on an automatic vs ~15% manual.

in this car people in auto's are dropping around ~20% and manuals ~17% from the crank so statistically insignificant.

oh and pansy ain't feeling the punch cause he's all loose now. ya know what i'm saying? :stirthepot:

if that's true then you all have weak blocks and numbers.....:stirthepot:

I put down big numbers for an auto losing more % in the drivetrain loss calc.

Those are some good numbers. :tiphat:

I'm hoping to be at 330whp after bolt ons and tune

ayrton88 10-06-2015 04:46 PM

I will readily admit that an AT is probably faster....I could care less. It is still boring.

That's just intakes and exhaust. If I do upper/lower manifolds with ported tb's maybe even add headers I could see mine going up a good bit more too.

Just means you either can't drive or don't have balls when driving.

Yeah for sure.

Thats the setup Im about to have also, not bad for a start tho, I only got 2k miles on the Z. Stllen intakes/exhaust and tune will hopefully put me at 330.

Why Stillen exhaust out of curiosity? It's one of the more mild exhausts for the 370z and probably won't yield you the best gains.

Yeah I was going to buy HKS but...

Craigslist 5 min from home happened....got stillen g3 intake and stillen exhaust both for 900 so I had to jump on that

And yes Im leaving stock cats on but probably will end up with hi flo cats soon.

Ahh, nice deal! good news is it won't be obnoxious loud (or bad news depending on what you're looking for)
