On cars with catalytic converters, push-starting cars is never recommended. Hope you solve your prob' soon, man.

tjlazer 04-08-2010 02:25 PM

It's solved! It was a blown fuse in the driver kick panel. Push start Ing fuse blew.

Nope it refers to manuals. would not stop me from doing it if I had to, though.

So...just a neat little test on Nissans thought you guys would find kinda cool.

IPDM test, called the auto-active test:

Turn ignition ON with the driver's door open.
Press the door switch (in the door jamb) 5 times.
Turn ignition OFF.
Turn ignition ON.

Horn will chirp once and the oil pressure light will blink continuously.
Windshield wipers will run for 5 sec.
Park lights illuminate for 5 sec.
Headlights alternate between low and high beam for 5 sec.
A/C clutch kicks on and off 5 times
Coolant fans run at low then high for 5 sec.
Repeat times 3 and then done.

That is the IPDM E/R test.

Just another cool thing about Nissans.

Late,
Trav

Oh wait....I think I goofed up.

Same instructions, but push the door jamb switch 10 times, rather than 5.

FYI the edit button is your friend.

Ah the life of being able to screw off at work on the internet all day, i wish i could join you.

Sweet! Oh, and I forgot to mention the fact that you can get a reasonably-priced emergency battery booster for under $30 (I got mine for $27 at Pep Boys). They're great, just in case your battery--or anyone's in your family/neighborhood!--ever fails. You just keep it charged, and it's a problem-solver!

Dumping unburnt fuel into the catalysts. That can damage them. They are more expensive than a tow!

Push Start versus Jump Start

Is it possible to start a 370Z M6 by push starting it? If yes, what gear and speed?
:ughdance:

Mitco39 07-25-2013 09:04 AM

Never done it but I would say it is possible. Id go 2nd gear and 20-30mph.

Question is why?

JARblue 07-25-2013 09:07 AM

Edited now that these posts are all in one place

It's not that you can't do it; it's just not recommended. Steve nailed it in post #25.

Troyz 07-25-2013 09:09 AM

Thanks! I am not having issues at this time. btw it would be cool if I could start it with voice command.
