My diff Rebuild plan
Ok guys I am gonna surprise you guys today, I dont want to pay 1500 for rebuilding the Diff so I am gonna go it by myself in my collage with teacher's support, right now is my planning time, I created a PPT to let you guys watch it
|
|
can you guys see it?
|
I can see it! I don't know anything about rebuilding diffs, but it looks fairly thorough. Let us know how it goes!
|
Which diff did you go with?
The vent tube should have been installed before bolting the diff cover to the diff housing. Less chance of getting metal shaving in the diff. Did you reuse the stock shims or did you have to use other shims? |
I will post a part list and a much more specific detailed operating list later

The most thing I don't know here is the backlash and torque of bolts from Nissan not internet. |

So....... you haven't done this yet?
Give you a tip on the crush sleeve. If you over tighten it. It's junk. It's a one time deal. Then you have to use another new sleeve again. |

If you are re-using the same ring and pinion that was with that pumpkin, and know it was not noisy, you can skip the pinion depth measurement and just look at/adjust pinion depth based the gear contact pattern.
If you are using a different/new ring and pinion, might borrow some tools to get the pinion depth set close to the dimension marked, and then look at the gear contact pattern. Also, Snap-on makes a nice dial torque wrench for checking bearing pre-load. See the pic. The part number I have TER1FUA. |
