Default P0456 error and cost - SES

Hi everyone,

I have a 2013 370z with 70K miles and recently the Service Engine Soon light came on. I went to autozone and had them run a code check (see attached). I called the dealership and asked how much to repair it. They wouldn’t give me a straight answer and kept saying they have to do a diagnostic for $200. Does anyone have experience with this particular issue and how much it should cost to repair?

Thanks

Check your gas cap.

Edit: And the EVAP hoses/canisters.

I checked the gas cap and oil cap, and tightened them. Still have the light.

Inspect the gas cap for damage. If you see anything out of whack, replace. Might be a good idea to replace the gas cap "just 'cause."

Download the FSM (there's a link on this site somewhere) and it will show you where all the hoses, canisters, etc are located. And it will have troubleshooting procedures.

Here is an update:

I took it to the shop and it turned out there was a small leak which I had them fix. This is what they wrote up in the receipt:
"Pulled codes. P0456 - EVAP system leak, small. P0101 - mass airflow circuit out of range. P010b - MAF circuit/circuit B2. MAF sensor codes are stored as history codes. EVAP code is what turned on check engine light. No current problems with MAF sensor. Research shows if this MAF codes persist, a reflash may be needed. Smoke diagnostic of EVAP system found leakage at EVAP vent solenoid and fuel cap. Fuel cap looks fairly new but is aftermarket and is not sealing properly. Recommend new EVAP vent solenoid and original Nissan cap. Replaced EVAP vent solenoid with original Nissan part. Also, replaced gas cap with original.”

All in all, this cost me $345.49.
