DS mode on automatic 370z. What do?

I managed to turn on DS mode within the 370z. Anyone got anymore information on this?

What does it exactly do?

The actual DS button is only on a g37. You want sport? Put it in manual mode and/or SRM if you drive manual.
Pretty much the dramatic rev match in manual mode is DS

I get that the G37 has the DS button. I was able to turn on DS mode within the 370z without the button (see picture). I'm trying to figure out the difference between manual mode and DS on the 370z. To add, I cannot shift the knob or shift paddles when on DS mode.

I can't find more information elsewhere.

Pretty much. It's worked on every automatic 370z that I have tried it on.

Put the shift knob on manual mode. Then move the shift knob towards the D gate. However, DO NOT enter the D gate. Simply, move the knob in between manual and D and then move it back to manual. DS should display. You can even set DS mode while driving.

Again, start at M, move shift towards D without crossing the mid line, and move the shift back to M. This movement is somewhat quick. Goodluck, took me 30 mins to master it.

Does it work? D vs DS in a G is a pretty noticeable change in behavior

At first I didn’t notice anything. However, the more I test it, the more I realize that there is a different tune, just subtle. I say this because when I drive normal as I always do, the car is pulling harder as if I’m going wide open throttle.

Also, downshifts are automatically rev matched without the use of paddles.

This works really well! Thanks for sharing larmenta.

It is significantly better 7AT up-shift feel along with SRM on decel. Shifter and paddles are ineffective in this mode.

I made a couple of quarter mile passes in this DS mode and the car runs pretty well.

Rep given! Learn something new every day.

LMAO. Uncovered a secret 10+ years later. Going to go to a Nissan dealership Monday to speak to a Z master.

You're going to rev higher with less effort. Your throttle response should be better. Wow. I had aZ 6 yrs n never noticed that. Was it in the manual or did u get a tip?

git@no 08-30-2020 06:09 PM

I try it todayand yes feel a lot better

Utter dumb luck. Could not find it in the manual. Now spread this info everywhere.

It's hit or miss, I guess, depending on the year.. I spent 30 minutes this morning doing everything that I could think of to "activate" this hidden feature with no luck. 2010 Touring Sport (without the "REV" upshift alert in the tachometer, if that even matters). Love me some Easter eggs when I find them!

Blizzak 09-07-2020 01:32 PM

I have been trying to activate this too, with no luck unfortunately

CyFi6 11-10-2020 01:55 PM

Can you expand on how to activate this mode? I was able to activate DS mode ONCE. Every time after that I have tried to get it to work, I haven't been successful.

Does the engine need to be warmed up, car at certain speed etc before it will work? I feel like I am not getting all the criteria for it to activate.
