Refrigerant 134a

Per the Service Manual, HFC-134a is the correct refrigerant.
Frankly, with the numerous possibilities to create high dollar repairs, the business end of the a/c system is one I am happy to have a trained technician look at. You don't have to go to the dealer, but find someone who is ASE certified to do the work. There really aren't any cheap shortcuts here.

Where did the original Freon go? If you have a leak somewhere, you need to repair it first, then pressurize the system with nitrogen to test if there are still any leaks for 24hour hold, if all is well, then u need to get a vacuum pump and manifolds to extract nitrogen and air out of the system @~24in, then do a pre-charge filling the system with 134A, after the pre-charge as its own pressure equalize btw the charging tank and the system, at this point you need to start the car and turn on A/C to the MAX, as you charge on the evaporator/cold side of the a/c system, the cold side will freeze, continue charging by turning the can to upright 10-20sec and upside down for a second interval until it starts to sweat and the cabin temp has dropped to its lowest possible degree it can when all doors are closed. For best results this should be done when the OAT is around 72F. So yeah its a freaking process let the pros do it 4 u.
