General Troubleshooting Tips: Use a volt meter (you can find them at most auto parts and hardware stores and some department stores). Set the meter to DC volts at the first range above 14V (eg, 15 or 50). Put the negative lead (black) on a good ground and then touch the positive lead (red) to the positive battery terminal. Should read 12-13V DC. Using the FSM for reference, work your way out from the battery until you detect close to zero volts. Your problem is between that point and the point you checked previously.
