Car is @15k miles (I got it at 11k)
I set the oil maintenance for 5k miles at my first oil change (pennzoil 5w-30)
I'm at 4300 miles on the counter.
Oil was filled to top circle on dipstick. Yesterday the dipstick showed the same reading, so no oil consumption that I can tell.
DD, no tracking yet, moderate driving.

Don't be paranoid. Some oil loss between changes is normal. See my earlier post. I check my oil every two weeks. I change my oil every 3,000 miles or 3 months and my oil level drops a little over an 1/8th of a quart. Check the oil following the directions per the owners manual.

According to amsoil (not that I would push it this far) is the oil can actually do 25k or 1 year however the vq37 can only fit their 15k filter. So 10k is still well below the rated mi for the oil. Really when you think about it the filters job it to filter particles which on today's low drag, low scuff designs (all roller, no flat tapet etc) so not a lot of debris and it is the additives in oil that really break down so as long as the additives hold up (which are tons better today than ever before but you pay a premium for them) then the risk of premature wear is pretty low.

I'm curious to see my results, guess will find out.

When I left Mercedes, the 2015 Sprinters just got switched to a 20K OCI.

I get some consumption. The latest stat for me is about 1/2-3/4 a quart of oil with two 100F+ degree track days and some daily driving on a motor with 104K on it. That said, I would recommend installing your own dual catch-can system if you are overly concerned about it.

well my dealer is actually monitoring it and my engine is under warranty so I don't want to do anything to void my warranty. Basically right now I'm deciding between trading in for a 2015+ nismo or replace the engine block under warranty.

decisions...decisions

5000 mile intervals since new. 19,600 on odometer. Nissan ester oil and k&n or nismo filter. Always refill with 5 1/8 Quarts (as recommended in manual). Add between 1/2 and 1 full quart between changes as level lowers a bit. I do know that ester oil WILL burn at high revs and temperatures, but burns clean.

Question? Are you doing your own oil changes or are you relying on the stealership to do so? I know three different stealerships that would put 6 quarts in my Juke when it only requires 4 3/4 quarts with change. Just curious if this is all your own determinations or what a dealership may be telling you to get you to buy another car...

59K on odometer, using PYB change it every 3500 to 4000 miles and no oil usage at all.
Using Nissan oil filter. I do not track and do not beat the **** out of it, no race car driving :), I know, the OP was asking 2011 and up but since my year model is supposed to use a quart every 1000 miles I thought it interesting that is does not.

Is ester oil apart of full synthetic oil? I'm using full synthetic oil so I don't know if maybe that has something to do with it, because I was doing high revs and a lot of racing around. My oil must be burning clean because there isn't any black smoke coming out of my exhaust? But yes the stealership is changing my oil due to the fact of following the rules to keep the engine warranty. Otherwise I'd change the oil myself.

You should just change your oil yourself. They can't deny your warranty just because you do your own oil changes.

NISMO IX 07-02-2017 02:54 PM

Nissan Ester oil is supposedly mineral oil, vegetable oil, and animal fats that is synthesized in process. Synthetic oil like mobile one is synthesized dinosaur oil, like regular oil, only synthesized in process.

Not trying to start an oil debate, everyone has their preferences, I prefer Nissan Ester oil.

I'd prefer to change it myself that way I know it's 100% done right
