A question for the experienced members on this forum..
I filled up my car with coolant and started it to try and bleed the air out but the fans never turn on! The car got up to 100C coolant temp and then i turned it off. They don't come on at all but I'm sure they're not faulty as they turn on for a few seconds when flashing a rom.. Any ideas? I've seen one member on here mention the same exact issue but never posted how he fixed it. |

Not sure exactly how you filled it, but, if you filled it without having the bleed valves open you may have already introduced an air lock into the system.
I dont think its possible to bleed it properly after the fact I would drain & refill. |
glad to see you in the home stretch

She's alive and well! I've been street tuning it this past few days and I've learned a lot.
I'm not even close to being good but I've got my tune nailed down on a very conservative timing map at the moment and will keep refining it on the street and finally finish it on the dyno in a few weeks. I'm estimating I'm around 500whp at the moment and shooting for 600-630 on E85 Things are finally looking up from this point and it's been an addicting drive every single second :) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2e2f6ca735.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sorry forgot to reply to this message. I believe I did bleed it properly using a tall funnel and squeezing the radiator hoses to get all the bubbles out. So far it's been amazing and both oil and coolant temps never go higher than they were NA (even though I have no oil cooler) Also for anybody that has a similar issue with the fans, keep in mind that they don't turn on full power until 100C! long time comin! Hope to see you putting more of these GTR370Z's on the road!
|
Here's a short video for you guys!
Hoping to go on the dyno tomorrow to finally see the results. |
Forgot to update this after the dyno but it was my first time tuning my own car and here's the results!
Tuned on Ecutek at wastegate pressure (7.5~psi near redline) https://image.ibb.co/d1D008/dyno_507_whp.png This is also before I learned how to properly tune the timing tables so it was just on around 13-14 degrees of timing near redline. I'm currently running 18 degrees on the street. I'm going back to the dyno next week to retune it with my boost controller. I'm hoping to hit 620~ whp or around there. |
So I've reached the end of the tunnel. While it's satisfying to finish it the way I wanted it in the beginning, I'm still a student and having a 650~ WHP Z isn't the best financial decision.
I will be parting out my car this upcoming winter, and will be offering a decent deal on installation and tuning for anyone in the Michigan/Ohio area. I might also entertain trades for a 6MT G37 or a Q50/Q60 if you guys know anyone. Here's a couple recent videos :) |
I thought you were going to make adapter kits to sell ?

I am! Sold 6 so far and trying to make it even easier by including inlets and downpipes :) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d4a4204279.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
My car is currently for sale and back to NA (test pipes and E85) making 330 whp (it's actually pretty fun still!) If you guys know anybody looking for a very clean stock '12 370Z with a newer motor (only 19k miles) please let me know.
Fortunately, I was able to score a pretty good deal on a nice daily and still stay in the VQ family. I might be able to do this again in the foreseeable future :) I got a red G37 coupe 6MT for $3600 !!! I'm thankful to this forum and everyone who has helped me. Owning this car has been a great learning experience and I hope everyone enjoyed this journey as much as I did. If you guys ever have any questions about this kit, please feel free to contact me. |
Sad to see you leaving Z ownership, hope you will stuck around you have contributed a ton around here!
|
I should have everything I need on island next month. Looking to park the car in a friends garage to start the install in november.
BIG thanks to Husam for pioneering this kit and sharing details along the way. |
Thanks everyone for the kind words! I hope to buy a Z again in a couple years and push the limits on these turbos once again. I currently have a spare engine laying around that I might build over the next coupe years :)
@sirnixalot; I hope I can see your car once it's done, it is going to be a blast I'm sure! |
Update to everyone that might be considered this!
My friend in Adel in California was able to achieve this on his stock block and stock trans (auto) g37 https://i.ibb.co/5vh6GCx/49443023-28...13624320-n.jpg |
Very nice. You’ve done a great service to the community by paving this path for anyone that wishes to go down it.

I'm trying to buy a cheap Q50 3.7 AWD so I can make what Nissan/Infiniti failed to do, I'll update you guys as soon as I'm done. |
Update for all my friends on the forum! I bought another Z, this time in a color that I like a little bit more. '14 Nismo with 29k miles!
Already have everything ready for it except for the S1SE from Phunk, and some ID1300s ;) |

Glad you’re back in a Z!

I went ahead and read the thread again to build on my anticipation.
|
Thanks guys! I will be opening a new thread shortly to document the new car :) Also had some updates to the kit that makes it easier to fit!
|
When you start the new thread, it might be worth putting a link to it in the first and last posts in here and then closing this one (you can use Thread Tools menu at the top to do this).
Looking forward to the new build :tiphat: |
I've been getting a lot of requests for a walkthrough of the GTR Turbos on the 370Z/G37, so here it is!
I apologize for the quality, it's my first time recording a video like this but I hope it explains everything a lot better than pictures. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMrwS4ru2ak |
Sub.. Better late than never right.?. :ugh2:

Bringing this one back. Was super interesting to read. Just picked up my second Z, a 14' Nismo with 14K miles. Definitely like the OEM'ish GTR set up!
|
I just reread the whole thread! It was definitely an exciting a period in this community back a few years back. I still have the 14 Nismo along with Justin's white Z that ran 9.9 sec (swapping it to a V3 of the GTR Kit!)
|
Quick update to this ancient thread.
Kit passed emissions testing with no issues! Stay tuned :) |

Enthusiast Auto Care in collaboration with BTW tuning are proud to bring you the first 50 state C.A.R.B. approved twin turbo kit for the vq37vhr platform. All Nissan/Infiniti models will be covered. Testing has already completed and the kit has passed all the tests.
We are gearing up to meet major demand for this kit and are not taking pre-orders yet. The CARB EO# has not been assigned yet. We expect the EO# to be assigned within a few months, then we will begin taking orders. Here are some details about the kit: *Ecutek tuned *GTR Turbos *GTR Injectors *Proprietary emissions control strategy for clean emissions (PATENT PENDING) *8psi boost achieved relatively early on (approximately 2.5k rpm) *Includes launch control, flat foot shifting, and other advanced ecutek features. ** 100% street legal ! If the kit is configured for a track/tuner configuration it is capable of producing well over 600whp on e85. |
Very nice.
