Starter motor

Has anyone done a diy install on there starter motor yet ? Was told u have to drop the motor ? Nissan cost is $650 , Feck that .

Has anyone done a diy install on there starter motor yet ? Was told u have to drop the motor ? Nissan cost is $650 , Feck that .

You don't have to drop the engine.ALLDATA only calls for about an hour to R&R the starter.

It's accessible from the bottom, might be easier to take off one of the cross members down there. And use a lift if possible.

The $650 price tag is about right... considering 150% markup on the starter.

shouldn't be too tuff job,, a lift would be ideal..we have a place in town here that rents their lifts by the hour,,free tool loaners too, with deposit.

Is that the cost for the piece or for labor? If it is for the part look elsewhere like rockauto.com. My throttle bodies crap on me and they cost $650 each at Nissan which no way in hell i would pay that since Nissan doesn't make the parts themselves. Got the Hitachi throttle bodies from rockauto for $160 each and they are working like a charm. The difference is that the emblem on top doesn't say Nissan. For that little detail Nissan charge $650 a pop.
