Default Transmission Problem, or just me

After getting my clutch swapped by some shady mechanic (I wanted to go to Nissan but my dad insisted his friend had the upmost expertise in clutches so i gave in) my car had the ability to shift out of any hear into neutral without ending the clutch. So as an example, I can be driving in 3rd, gas it a little and then be able to pull the shifter from 3rd to neutral withou any problem. Any ideas? I think it's not engaging correctly. What are your guys thoughts? Thanks!

Maybe I'm confused - you're saying that you can take the car out of gear without pressing the clutch? Pretty much every MT car I've owned will let you do that.

Really? I thought it was a bad thing. Because, I could have the car in 3rd gear at 5000 rpm and just pull it out to neutral without touching the clutch. That's normal?

Either it's normal, or I've owned a bunch of broken cars.

😂😂 I called Nissan and they said this was definitely not normal. I was confused wether it was a sales thing so I can bring my car in and waste money. Or they're being honest

Same as with Chuck33079, every manual transmission I've owned/driven over the last 45 years or so would do that - especially under low/no load.

But I haven't driven a MT 370Z, so maybe Nissan did something "weird."

If OP's Z really has a problem, then I've got it too.

OP, you are fine. Simple reason is that you caught the moment when there's no load on the gears, allowing you to simply pull to neutral without clutch.

However, I would caution, you shouldn't need anything more than a very light touch to achieve this. If you have to yank it to get out of gear/into neutral, you are not at the right timing and shouldn't try.

How do you think folks can shift without mashing in on the clutch. It is not recommended on a tranny with synchros's though due to damage to the synchros that can be caused.
