Throttle Cut at 3500 RPM

I've just gotten my car back and I've been putting breakin mileage on it, but I've run into a curious issue. Once the car has been driven a short distance, roughly 9 miles or so, the throttle will cut off at precisely 3500 RPM for roughly 2-3 seconds. There are no other error indications and no DTCs. If I restart the car, it will provide full range of throttle for another several miles before again cutting off at 3500 RPM.

My car is tuned with EcuTek, so one thought I had was that this is Valet Mode kicking in. However, I'm not on the valet mapping, so all should be normal. That said, I haven't driven the car in 7 months and don't even really remember how to turn valet mode off, if it is on. :)

Another theory is severe limp mode, but again, there's no SES light and my oil temperature is reading 180F.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

-Brian

Does it cut or does it start bliping like launch mode? I had a software glitch like this where launch would activate while driving. My tuner had a patch file to fix it.

It's a full on cut, but that's a good point. I haven't stayed on the throttle to see if it'll blip like on launch mode. I'll try that tomorrow...

This issue went away as mysteriously as it appeared. Unfortunately, now the car refuses to start -- I suspect the fuel pump (hopefully the OEM one didn't break!).

I've been having that exact same issue since 2011! It's so random when it happens and it always go away after the car is off for a bit. My car has no tune with only headers and exhaust added. ANY info to help diagnose this would be greatly appreciated!

FYI, op has since had a complete rebuild and then sold his car. Good luck, hope some other members can help you on this.
