I always have a spacer machined up and adjust pinion preload with shims. Cost is double what it takes with a crushable spacer though because of multiple assemble/disassemble/reassemble to get

Cost is double what it takes with a crushable spacer though because of multiple assemble/disassemble/reassemble to get the lash "right".
