It's a push in my opinion, 101 or 100 at the pump runs less thand $10 a gallon so you aren't gaining much if any thing. The biggest advantage is if you can't get race fuel and for Ban at AC it would be worth it.

I know I'm probably wrong here but I thought aviationgas was kerosene

Bad idea...aviation gas is leaded and you will blow your engine.

What is the ideal octane rating one would run in a non FI z when using race gas?

Hey I was just confused

If you looking run race gas all you need is 100 octane. You just need to make sure it is unleaded. Most of the time if it has lead in it, it will be 103, 112 or something of that nature at the pump. You can buy some really high dollar stuff from VP that is oxygenated as well but I don't see a need for that unless you a racing full-time. Strip your car down and make it lighter if you want it to go faster and NA lol!

Airplanes don't run on unleaded fuel!

An airplane using jet turbines use kerosene

Hotrodz 06-27-2016 01:28 PM

We are talking apples and oranges. When the person mentioned aviation fuel at the pump, that is fuel used by prop planes. Jet fuel does have kerosene in it and that is why it stinks so bad!
