Busted diff bushing. Swap it out with a set of aftermarket ones.

what is the part # and where can i pick up from? Can it wait or do i need to fix right away?

Memphis370Z 05-09-2016 07:04 PM

When you replace them, do so with Whiteline, not OEM.

ShockWave 05-09-2016 07:06 PM

can i do myself or i need to take it in? Can you someone please attach a link to that part i need to order?

ShockWave 05-09-2016 07:16 PM

Standard warranty is 36 month/36,000 miles bumper to bumper, 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain so you are out of warranty unfortunately

I would check with the dealer and see if they will cover the labor (under warranty) then I would order a set of white line rear diff bushings and take that to them to install..

Unless he picked up the extended warranty ??

ShockWave 05-09-2016 07:33 PM

NO extended warranty...how much do u guys think its going cost to install? looks like Z1 is out of stock on them?

Chuck33079 05-09-2016 07:37 PM

If you ever wanted to swap to the nismo diff cover, it'll probably never be cheaper. The diff is coming out to replace the bushings anyway.

Memphis370Z 05-09-2016 07:48 PM

And put some Redline in while you're at it.

which Redline do i need? Can i buy from Amazon?

ShockWave 05-09-2016 08:09 PM

which ones are better....Whiteline or the SPL Solid ones?

Chuck33079 05-09-2016 08:14 PM

Solid will transmit more vibration. I'd do poly on a street car.

I thought there was no fluid in bushings? they're just rubber...

They're fluid filled. This happens all the time.

Trust what everyone else has said already, that fluid you're seeing is from a busted bushing

I bought the Whiteline ones. In hindsight I should have bought SPL. But I don't care about NVH.

100% guaranteed to be a failed subframe bushing. Stop thinking about it.

want to replace the fluid while I'm im at it... Red Line (50304) MT-90 75W-90 is this the correct one?

http://www.amazon.com/Red-Line-50304...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

JARblue 05-10-2016 12:28 PM

I actually get the Redline 75W90 for the OEM VLSD because it is a GL-5 gear oil. The MT-90 you linked is a GL-4 gear oil.

Note that a GL-4 gear oil is recommended for the the 370Z manual transmission. MT-85 is the most commonly used fluid for the MT.

my car is manual transmission... so get this one...Red Line 57904 (75W90)

That's the stuff. Regarding the manual transmission fluid, I was just pointing out that the MT needs a GL-4 gear oil. The diff should get a GL-5 gear oil regardless of whether the car is AT or MT.

thanks for the help! :tiphat:

ARrado15 05-11-2016 04:01 AM

Make sure to use this one http://www.amazon.com/Red-Line-57904.../dp/B000CPCBF0 . Its the redline 75w-90 for your diff but is the GL-5 instead of the GL-4. GL-4 is fine in your transmission, but not in your diff as JARblue stated.

ShockWave 05-11-2016 08:35 AM

how much Quarts do i need to buy of the Red Line 57904 (75W90) ?

JARblue 05-11-2016 08:37 AM

Expect to use about 1.5 bottles refilling the diff, so you'll need 2.

 thanks bro!

ARrado15 05-11-2016 06:04 PM

Yep. I would also get a pump for the bottle because it makes life MUCH easier. Also be careful if you fill the diff while it is out of the car because you can overfill it.
