No Cruise?

Hey Guys,

So over the past year my cruise has been starting to cut out more and more to the point its at now where it will not even set. I can turn it on but when I try to select set on the wheel nothing happens. I know the button on the wheel because I can switch maps and whatnot with no issues.

Clutch switches are good (otherwise it wouldnt start)
Brake switch maybe? Anyone else been through this before?

I am going to read out the tunes with ecutek tonight and see if there are any. I was hoping it was uprev possibly causing some issues but nope.

Anyone every had to troubleshoot their cruise?

Thanks in advance!

Mitch

Make sure your top clutch switch is being depressed. Starting does not indicate the top clutch switch is adjusted correctly. You gotta get under there and see for yourself. If you have the adjustable clutch pedal, when you adjust it you often need to re-set the top clutch switch. betcha this is whats up!

i would assume if your brake switch was the problem, your brake lights would be stuck on?

Your right, I had it backwards in my head. I will check the clutch switch right now.

I know in the diesels there is like 4-5 circuits in there for redundancy, not sure if this is the same, but I do have a service manual that would tell me.

Thanks again Charles.

There may be two switches on the brake pedal also. Maybe not. FSM will tell you for sure. In any case, the brake and clutch switches is where I'd start looking.

I have a thread on this.

Mine was the brake pedal adjustment. Put your foot behind the brake pedal and pull up. If it turns on, you need to make a simple adjustment. I haven't a fúcking clue what you need to adjust because the dealer did it for me, but it must've been easy because the guy bent down with a maybe 10 or 12mm socket, twisted whatever and done

I believe you were right charles, I looked at the clutch switch and it looks ok, its not perfectly lined up (I have the aftermarket clutch pedal). But while driving I sucked up on the clutch pedal with my foot and it started working. So I will pull the switch and try to realign it better.

Also my Gear selector stopped working but ill make a new thread. lol.

Another thing that happens, but only after a long time of the top clutch switch not engaging, is the S Mode will default. I rarely use cruise, so after making a large adjustment to my pedal one summer I didn't notice anything was up until my S Mode "randomly" stopped working. I was just wtf about it for maybe a week until I went to use the cruise and it didn't work, and then a lightbulb came on over my head.

Ill grab a video of what its doing, in 2nd its quickly flipping back between 2 and 4, same thing happens when in 1st, it will bounce between 1-3.

Essentially its acting like the gear sensor is off but a hair. If I could slide it to the left it would fix all my issues. Again ill start a new thread when I get a vid of it haha

I dont know if there is much doubt that a problem like that could be anything other than the shifter position sensors.

Yeah I was looking through the service manual and there seem so to be no adjustment on it. It started doing it last year and has slowly gotten worse. Transmission doesn't miss a beat tho. Ill get a video of it tonight if I take the car out.

Also, you dont realize how spoiled you are with S-Mode till you lose it. lol

Mine was the brake switch. I adjusted it and it was good for a while but it went out again and just needed a new switch from Nissan.

I was having random starting issues and it seems to have gone away after I adjusted the clutch switch per the factory service manual. Took about 5 minutes with a 14mm wrench.
