Where he lives and how much fuel costs is irrelevant to this discussion. The problem is manufacturers selling us 'sports' cars without a surge tank in the fuel tank and without baffled oil pans.

This is a problem on the EVO Xs as well when youre tracking your car and generating any major cornering forces below 1/2 tank of gas.

If it only happens at 1/4 tank and below on the Z, that's not THAT bad compared to other manufacturers but still unacceptable and unsafe on the track.

OP, add a 2nd fuel pump and surge tank to solve the fuel starvation issue.

We do have a surge tank though. Granted it's extremely small but the fuel pump does sit in a tank of its own fuel. Also I read here someone quoting the designer of the Z it was never fully meant to be a sports car, just a sporty car. Hence the poor brake pads that overheat and fail, no factory oil cooler until 2012, rear differentials that can overheat and blow up, fuel starve etc. etc.

The Z is engineered and sold as a street car. When you put it on the track expect to do a few changes to the above mentioned issues and problem solved.

:iagree: precisely!! Why blame it on the car? That is why we have after market companies to solve this problems for track use.
Only 1% of Z buyers probably track their Z on a regular basis.

I bet less than 1% of the forum, and I bet the forums is less than 10% of owners!

Totally agree... Also, I am sure some want everything on the Z, but will complain when they see the price increase. You get what you pay for.

I don't get it. You live in a rich oil country and you don't feel up your Z??
And then you accuse the Z with the dumbest fuel tank? Lol

I knew it even the sheiks could no longer pay their Ferrari's too due to low cost of oil barrel in the market!

Just kidding you. But come on man fill up and problem solved.
Fuel starvation is very common with our Z.

The funny thing is that you make the 1st reference to "feel", and I know you meant "fill" but then at the end of your posting you wrote it correctly. Then again you make reference to accuse the fuel tank.
It is 4 am and I can't sleep, things like this is what keeps me awake :icon18:

Happened again, 3 dots, no fuel picking up, and a dead car on side of highway. When I did get the car to a gas station I still had about 2 gal in the tank. I've run it lower then that before. PISSED me off!

Me at track on sunday: Helmet check, gloves check, traction control off check, no less than 2 dots on fuel gauge unlit-OH SH!T.

Needless to say with just 3 dots not lit up on the fuel gauge, I could barely make it around the track, fuel starving in every right hander on the track. Completely ruined my third session. I would like to take someone from Nissan and shove them inside our fuel tank.

1/2 tank of fuel or more....check

I wonder if the engineers at Nissan are clueless to this fact or if they just decided it's not worth the investment to fix it.
