My review after break in and one autocross event:


So to start off a little background story, this is my first manual car. I learned how to drive on the stock clutch. So obviously changing the feel of it scared me a bit. I got the spec stage 1 clutch and their steel flywheel, along with my Z1 CSC elimination kit. Now the pedal feel is obviously night and day to what it used to be. No sloppy pedal feel and the engagement point is now closer to the bottom. The clutch is firm to a comfortable point and I can feel where it engages much better. Also after the 500 mile break in I had one autocross event where the car performed very well, no issues with clutch related tasks all day. Overall the kit gives me the peace of mind knowing I won’t have a CSC fail while I am driving and it is so far a great investment. Rebuilding or replacing the master cylinder is never a bad idea on the Z34 as they are known to have problems. I will say that we have never had to replace the master on the Z1 shop car and it has 36K ABUSED and track tested miles.

I would suggest the Z1 clutch and flywheel combo over going with a stocker as the Z1 flywheel will allow for quicker revs.

If I install the combo now, later on down the road could another clutch/flywheel combination be simply swapped in with no issue to the eliminator kit?

It all depends on which combo you install. If anything should need to be changed it should be fairly simple to change it.

I am preparing to do this work this week and had a question about the MT fluid. I recently did a flush, so I'm hesitant to change it again but willing. I'm just a little concerned about being able to properly tip the transmission (it will be chained to a transmission floor jack) to save the fluid. Any thoughts on how easy or difficult this might be? If it makes things easier, I've got a local cycle shop that can get it next business day.

I was specifically asking about the procedure of tipping the transmission to the rear in order to salvage the transmission fluid. Do you foresee any difficulty doing this using a transmission floor jack?

O sorry, we have a trans plug for that. So be very careful when tilting. If you go to far fluid will leak from the rear.

Gotcha. Yeah, I just decided to go ahead and do another flush. The last time I only had three quarts to fill anyway so I want to make sure it's full. Plus I know I would lose at least a little during the removal process. Since I needed one, might as well buy three more - easy to justify an extra $50 in the process of saving $800 in labor :tup:

*edit* I just wanted to add that I just purchased my transmission jack, and the jack itself has adjustments to tilt the transmission in any direction while it is chained to the jack. I will probably still go ahead and replace the fluids, but I now know that it wouldn't have been a problem to save most of the oil (provided I plug the rear). The dealer sold me the wrong washers for the plugs before my last flush, so I can put new washers on as well.

Hey John I'm looking into using your new csc kit but the car also just had a tt kit thrown on it so I will need to upgrade my clutch and flywheel as well. Any recommendations for any clutch and flywheel kits that will work well with your csc? I know you guys have your own clutch set up but I'm wondering how it will hold up with the added power because I see some turbo guys using specialty-z clutch set ups but not so many with the z1 clutch set up? If anyone could chime in it would really help.

Hey John, I have a Spec Twin Disc Clutch that I will be installing on my HR Z. What can you do for me to get this CSC elimination kit on my Z before I send the Z in the to get the clutch installed.

I just installed this kit this past weekend. Nothing but good things to say. The install wasn't too much fun (did it in my garage), but we didn't run into any issues with the kit or installation. Very pleased that I don't have to worry about my CSC any more. The car drives great, as always :driving:

My CSC just went out today....Please PM me a price with overnight shipping to 33607...Nissan will will replace, but only with factory CSC....

I'm currently running a stage three clutch with a one piece steel fly wheel.
