BUMP - Clutch helper springs get yours before I sell out 36 left!
|
Hey Mike, quick question. Why do these springs have a rough finish on both ends of them?
See pic for reference that you posted on page 1 post # 15. It's like they have been ground down with a grinder. Was it done to make them flat? Are they supposed to stand on end, vertically straight up? Bottom line is....does it really make any difference? |
Yes they are all like that, the spring is flat so it can seat in the clutch assembly perfectly! Don't worry they are all supposed to be like that, I take it you haven't taken the OEM one out yet have you? When you do you will notice the OEM one will also stand up on its own with a flat top and bottom (a lot of springs are like these) the difference will be that the OEM one has much thicker metal for the coils in the spring. The OEM on has a very strong spring rate I think it was like 300lbs or something like that if my memory is correct..... my spring that I offer I believe is rated at 70 or 75lbs.
|
Cool beans...and no I have not, but have read and seen pics on your other thread and esfouteen's thread. I thought that was the case with OEM spring and aftermarket spring. I tried to get my mechanic at the dealer to install it since the entire clutch pedal assembly was being replaced after my master slave cylinder was recently replaced. The clutch pedal assembly had a developed a quacking sound (no it's not the air seeping from the air breather hole on the compressor/shock housed in with the clutch helper spring). Turned out the shock was blown, seals.
Anywho...he was leery of using the spring, not that he would not do it for me as I am family with my dealer. He questioned the strength since it was shaved/grounded afraid it might make a creaking sound. I assured him it is not the case and several hundred Z/G members have been using the same spring for over a year and there is no creaking sound. So I just said shine it on and I will later have a monkey boy with small frame and fingers install it for me for some pizza and beer. Thanks bro and apologies for the long winded reply. And for the record you are correct, the OEM is 300 lb and yours is like 70-75 lb. Will update thread after I return from London and install the spring along with some other cosmetic goodies. :tiphat: |
Ya don't worry it is made like that with the grinding already done. They would have done it to clean up any sharp edges from manufacturing. Also there is no creeking in mine and its been installed the longest and no one else has reported creeking with the spring

I have been getting a bunch of emails and PM's lately and would just like to let everyone know I still have springs available:tup:
|
just a little mind this week and there's definitely a little difference. the crazy thing about it as I stepped on the spring after I took it out and it supported all my weight! that is way too much tension to have on a clutch pedal.with this new spring it definitely wasn't to drive the car and it was before.
on a side note with putting the pin back into the spring assembly I used a pair of craftsmen channel locks to squeeze the Pin back in the spring assembly. it went in without much difficulty after an hour of frustration:shakes head: |
??? sorry your review was hard to understand
So do you like the new spring or do you not like the new spring? |
BUMP
Still available |
bump for my buddy!!! we have installed 3 of these on island and all 3 of us love this mod... thanks again mike ;)
|
Will these work with an aftermarket clutch or only stock clutch?
|
Are you asking in regards to the physical clutch plates under the car or the clutch pedal in the car?
In short, it fits into the OEM clutch pedal in the car. Here is a picture from a DIY linked on the first post of this thread  http://forums.nissansportz.com/uploa...5_77_68721.jpg |
I understand what it does, but I think I just asked a dumb question :p
The whole point of the spring is to stiffen the pedal and make it feel a lot better. I have a stock clutch right now, but plan on upgrading clutches when I eventually boost it. I know that an aftermarket clutch most likely will change the pedal feel. So i guess my question is that will this clutch spring make an aftermarket clutch feel even better than if it just had the stock spring? Sorry for the questions but hey maybe someone else other than myself might benefit from it too  |

Yes the aftermarket clutch is going to change the feel, now whether the spring will make it feel "better" is 100% opinion based. There is a few people (1-2% of spring buyers) who say they do not like the spring for the OEM clutch, everyone else loves it  I am not even sure if any one put one of these into a pedal with an after market clutch? sorry.......:ugh2: |
Bump!
Still available  |

LOL i just read what i wrote :icon14:...trying to type on a cell phone. Ok so what i meant to say was: Whats crazy about the OEM spring is that it was able to hold up my entire weight which is just nuts for a clutch spring. There is definitely a better feel with the new spring that doesn't make me feel like such a novice when driving this car (driven clutch cars for years). I am able to shift without such a jerk from 1-2 and 2-3 and not feel like im riding the clutch since I was trying to easy into the shift. I would recommend this MOD to anyone. Others have claimed there is "slop" when the pedal is not pressed but i don't feel it with mine. I would recommend you use a good size pair of channel locks to press the pin into the clutch pedal assemble as there is no room in there to tap it in and cant finger press it in either. |
Eh its $20, cant really go wrong with that ;)
I'll paypal gift you the money right now. Thanks Mike  |
Any update Mike?
