DIY: Installing Touring pedals on your Base

Here's a very simple how to... you will need to provide one zip-tie.

Tools i used were:

10mm socket
Regular screw drivers (to remove bolt cover)
Wire cutter (to cut zip-tie)
Flash light

Remove cover... i used a real fine tip regular screwdriver and a 5mm regular screw driver
to pull this piece out. the clips are on the sides.

Removed the two 10mm fasteners...

Pull up the accelerator module. There is a hook on the back.
- Blue circles: where the accelerator is hooked on the backside to the floor.
- Green circle: harness you will unplug.
- Purple circle: zip tie you will cut.

(the accelerator module is flipped in this pict for explanation)

http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...395-pedal3.jpg

Then install the new pedal module in reverse order.

For the clutch and brake pedals... The factory one is just wrapped over
the metal pedal so just pull it off.

Here is a pict of the backside of the Touring pedals. When you mount onto the pedal
on the car, mount the top area (blue) first, then the green areas. Just pry
open the green areas with your fingers and wrap it over the pedal. some
white release oil dust comes off the rubber but dont worry. it will wipe off.

Afterwards I used my mirror tool to check that the backside was
properly wrapped around the pedal.

Before you start your engine, you need to reset the accelerator pedal. During
this sequence do not touch your accelerator pedal.

Turn ignition ON (dont start the car) wait at least 2 seconds
Turn ignition OFF wait at least 10 seconds
Turn ignition ON (dont start the car) wait at least 2 seconds
Turn ignition OFF wait at least 10 seconds.

That's it. very easy and now looks nice. took the car out for a
spin. the gas pedal feels the same, but the brake and clutch pedals
feel less bumpy vs the stock rubber covers so it is improved. :)

i like it. it's a tad pricy but i think it's well worth it to complete the look.
You can buy it through your dealer or online nissan shop of your choice.

i bought mine from the local dealer and they didn't write out the part number but i checked over at courtesyparts where dcrew first introduced them and they have listings there. just tell your dealer
that it's for the touring trim and they'll know what you're referring to.

hope this helps. :) it was like $300 total.

I didn't realize these were touring pedals - since they come on my NISMO I assumed they also come on the base, like much of my interior

Funny you mention that, because back in when the 370z first launch there was a nice/huge difference between the website and the brochure on the base model. One listed the pedals were standard and the other said no aluminum pedals.

kenchan 10-28-2009 10:12 AM

ok, we shall now call them the NISMO pedals. :D

austex 11-15-2009 07:02 PM

How does the clip for the harness work? I dont want to break the clip or pull the wire out by accident. do you press down on it or use a small screwdriver to pry it loose?

dcrew1x 11-15-2009 07:43 PM

Press the tab and pull it out. Very simple

austex 11-17-2009 04:18 PM

awesome!

thanks, got these in the mail last week and finally got around to installing them Sunday night. very easy very quick.

i'll post up some pics. but you've seen what the transformation looks like. really does complete the look!

thanks for the help with this!

kevr6 05-07-2010 09:19 PM

Just did my pedals!! Thanks for this thread!

kenchan 05-08-2010 08:21 AM

np! :D

TongMan 08-16-2010 08:18 PM

Looks nice. But too expensive to do.

kenchan 08-16-2010 10:35 PM

gotta pay to play, tongman! :D ;)

NISMOFO 09-17-2010 05:05 PM

Wow these are much more expensive than I'd like to pay......but I envy those that have the pedals :-)

kenchan 09-17-2010 08:08 PM

yah, they aren't cheap but if you like the style it's great. :)

modshack has aftermarket ones that he designed with the manufacturer if you want to check those out. much cheaper than the OEM's.

flashburn 09-17-2010 08:22 PM

Yep, I have those pedals, highly recommended. I have the grid design. You can see photos at SRP Racing - Custom Aluminum Racing Pedals

kenchan 09-17-2010 08:25 PM

yep, i just like the OEM pedals. :p

NewYorkJon34 01-03-2011 02:56 PM

http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/w...4/e8ecaec8.jpg first of all the brake/clutch pedals are very difficult to install, my fingers are def not happy right now, lol They do not just "snap on" as others have said, to help others out I have found the easiest way of doing these: spray a tiny bit of wd-40 on the inside of the bottom of the pedal, then take a blow dryer & heat the back of the pedal for about a minute, doing so let's the rubber expand and is easier to stretch. Then put the top part on first, then with both hands pull either side of the pedal backing as hard as you can while trying to stretch it over the bottom. Hopefully after a few tries it snaps on for you, hope this helps others. Also you may need to re-heat the rubber if it cools off.

kenchan 01-17-2011 04:58 PM

hahahaha, it's not difficult NY John. just wrap it over. :p

NewYorkJon34 01-17-2011 06:29 PM

It was difficult cus you had to really stretch that pedal, I had to heat it up to be able to put it on.

shadoquad 02-07-2011 10:44 AM

Kenchan, thanks for the DIY! I just took mine off yesterday, and it was easy as pie!

I have to wait for the person selling me his to mail them to me. It's complicated. But I'll be looking at this thread again when I get the touring pedals in the mail. :D

Jeffblue 02-09-2011 08:25 PM

just used the DIY to install shado's base pedals in my Z so i can install the SRP pedals. Rep for you kenchan

TongMan 05-08-2011 07:27 PM

I really don't want to fork over $80 for the clutch and brake pedal covers plus another $132 for the accelerator. Are there any other options or choices other than the ones that Modshack has. I would rather not have to drill into the pedals.

I think you're probably going to have problems installing different pedals without drilling.
I bought pedals from Autovation (link below) for my 350 and paid just a little over $100 for gas, brake, clutch and dead pedal. I found a 35% coupon when I bought them.

Nissan 370Z

martin82 11-30-2011 06:24 PM

I don't condone 5 finger discount, but that is always an option LOL.

kenchan 12-13-2011 02:56 PM

i dont like adding unnecessary thickness to the pedals unless i want one of the pedals closer to me... so i prefer the factory oem pedal covers. :)

i suppose if the Z had telescopic steering wheel drilling type might be an option but for me this is the way the Z shouldve look from the factory.

martin82 06-05-2012 11:35 PM

I did notice a clutch pedal off a mustang was VERY similar to the Z one. If anyone wants, I can take pics...

mwhit02 11-15-2012 04:58 PM

How do u reset the car if its a manual? I just swapped pedals and did the procedure and my car wont start

kenchan 01-10-2013 02:32 PM

my car is MT. no issue initializing the new pedal when installed it a few yrs back.
