The clips slip right into the fender,in between the light and outside. Grab the fender on the outside edge just below the fender and give a tug..pop. After you have everything else loose, do one side at a time. Be ready for the nose to be in your lap after you do the second side, its not heavy it just comes at you,. Good luck!

It's best to unplug the battery so the ECU will reset and learn what new parts you just installed. Has happend to other cars that you install a intake without disconnecting the battery, the intakes flow better air but the ECU detects a change and either A. doesnt change anything so you get no gains or B. detects the change and throws a code. Doesnt ALWAYS happen but i had it happen on my other car.

As for the bumper removel. Few bolts on the bottom, few on push pins on top and 2 in the wheel wheel, 2 screws (one in each well behind the liner) and the bumper can be pulled off. Its really not that hard. Just follow the DIY and it should take u a few hours to do everything.

On the top of the filters, it says "caution - oil before using". Did you guys spray oil before installing? I've had other K&N filters before and they've been pre-oiled and ready to use.

Mine are K&N pre-oiled filters so i never had to do that, if i wash them ill have to re-oil it though.

All K&N's come pre-oiled, including the ones we use with the Gen 3's.. I think that's a newer warning for those cleaning them..

OK, thanks! I was just about to rip the filters out to oil them...that saves me a bit of work tonite. Glad I decided to check my email before starting.

Josh@STILLEN 04-23-2010 12:44 AM

lol.. me too!

Let us know your thoughts after install.. when you've had a chance to give them a run. On the dyno it takes 5-7 WOT runs to get the ECU adapted and see the gains. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes on the street (in the appropriate area of course.. ;) ) to get things going..

Nice little growl as you gun it. I like the new sound. Can't comment too much yet on the difference felt on the butt dyno as I haven't been accelerating hard (beyond 5500 RPM) before the G3 install and since (rain and traffic today). Nice CAI...glad I bought it!

Josh@STILLEN 04-23-2010 11:05 PM

Nice! Glad you're happy with the intake..

ejrives 05-16-2010 06:53 PM

Installed mine today. Can't explain how happy I am with it

P Chewing 33 05-26-2010 10:38 AM

Just placed my order for the G3. My only concern is cutting the holes too big. What consequences am I going to have if I cut them too big?

Not much...fits fairly snug when filters are in place. Just test fit and trace an outline with a sharpie and do your best. On mine, the hole on the passenger side is bigger than it needs to, but there's not much movement happening.

Mine are on the Fedex truck waiting to be delivered. In the mean time I torn the engine bay apart waiting on Fedex. One thing I noticed is that the previous owner had already cut out the plastic for the intake.... Happy and sad because I don't need to waste my time doing that step but also sad because my cars cherry has already been popped.

Huh! Didn't think we'd see that so soon. Interesting!

thinking the same thing. Something i just noticed and i dont think anyone caught it yet, i miss-spelled Stillen...lol. Type to damn fast to think of the correct spelling sometimes.

Footloose301 06-19-2010 08:59 PM

I finally got a chance to play around today and needless to say, I LOVE IT! Definitely worth the money for the intake. I didn't get a chance to play yesterday because as I installed the bumper, the Florida weather became irrational. I can definitely feel the added power and the engine sounds beautiful now.:happydance:

Wish I had money for an exhaust now.

I just got my G3 intake from fedex and plan to do the install this week. My only concern is the situation with the AC hose getting worn through. I plan to put some rubber tubing over it to protect it, but I would like to know what diameter and length of hose to buy?

Thanks in advance!

370Zsteve 06-27-2010 12:13 PM

Rob, just eyeball some at the local auto parts store. I did with no problem, and then I tie-wrapped the hose onto the A/C lines. I'd guess the hose was about 3/4" diameter or so...and the length? Since the intake tube is round, length is not a concern, use about 3-4 inches.

370Zsteve 06-27-2010 12:21 PM

A great tool for cutting the holes, the Dremel Carbide Cutting and Shaping Tool. Available at HD, Lowe's, any hardware store that carries Dremel stuff. It cut through the material like butter, and you can use it almost like a lathe as well as a cutter. Total cutting/shaping time: about 5 minutes per side. Cost was $16

Steve:

Thanks! I just want to be sure to have everything on hand before I start the install.

Can somebody please help me out, I have a hard time try to remove those two parts on the stock intake. I don't know if I should just yank them out or what. Please tell me what tool I need to use and how to get them off the right way. thank you.

djpathfinder 07-14-2010 07:48 PM

Are you refering to the clamps for the small hoses? Sorry, it's hard to tell on the picture on my iPhone. Just find the ends on the clamp and use some pliers to squeeze them together and pull the plastic part away from the hose while the clamp is loose.

Kev T 07-15-2010 08:25 AM

As djpathfinder says squeeze the ends together and lever apart with small screwdriver, then pull the hoses off the plastic stub pipe, they are stubborn but you wont break anything.

kevin1985912 07-15-2010 04:18 PM

thanks guys

Snakes709 07-16-2010 11:39 AM

getting ready already kevin? lol.

kevin1985912 07-16-2010 01:24 PM

yeah, trying to figure out how to take off the stockers

Snakes709 07-16-2010 02:34 PM

easy, just follow my how-to. Its not that hard. If the clamps are all loosen off, just pull the intakes out. They are held down by a little plastic nub that is in a piece of rubber so it will require abit of force to pull out. Just surprised you are tearing into the car already. Parts only left edmonton yesterday, as i see they are in BC and should be hitting customs today, if not monday.

kevin1985912 07-16-2010 06:06 PM

when you put the strut bar back on, did you use a torque wrench? or just tight it by feeling?

djpathfinder 07-16-2010 06:50 PM

Torque those to 38 ft-lbs.

Snakes709 07-16-2010 06:54 PM

^^ what he said

kevin1985912 07-17-2010 02:36 AM

damn, how did you guys find those info?

Snakes709 07-17-2010 11:03 AM

just do a search either on the forums or on google. Dont bother looking in your owners manual, thing doesnt tell you ****. Pretty much the same as my truck, basically says "if you need to do this, go to the dealership"

JayYoon 07-18-2010 12:13 AM

sounds impossible for a nub like me to do this...
