Yes it happened to me, from cleaning the inside of the lens. I had to restore the inside of the lens, very easy use 2000 grit in one direction, then use 3000 grit across the direction you went with on the 2000 grit, then a few drops of plastic x with a powerball connected to a drill, I also used a light spray of lubricant for HL restore to keep the powerball from drying up. Good luck, hope you get it fixed.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about sanding it down and trying to restore the inside. I just opened it back up and cleaned off the foggyness then resealed. Its been almost a year now since I did that and nothing's changed since. I can still see the area where the inside film is missing but its not a huge deal.

I don't have the expertise or time to do this. Are there any companies that will do it? Any way to get this done without doing it myself?

Thanks man for the awesome wright up, I'm about to do this to my new z but first, what do you use when putting it back together? i mean any glue or what? i ask this because previously i did this to a bmw headlight and then I'm guessing i left a hole somewhere because overtime i would wash my car they would fog up inside.

I was pretty scared myself! Almost drove 3 hours south to have Nut_N_Much in Tampa help but decided screw it, ill do it myself. It wasn't as bad as it seem taking everything apart and putting it back together couldn't be easier, baking them is the only sketch part. Had my girlfriend help as well. Getting them a part was a breeze, 11 minutes @250 degrees

Hummmm I really want to try this

Nyght 03-25-2015 01:37 AM

I am going to do this tomorrow! wish me luck

I did it the other day and I wanna say it was MUCH easier than I thought it would be. Like everyone else o was scared to take them apart but 10 mins at 250 they came apart pretty easily with a flathead prying all the way around and lifting from the front. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...0c6d1aa974.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...6f1b68c46b.jpg

I'm about to try this tomorrow/Saturday. Not sure if anyone has done this before, but I'm going to use VHT Nite Shades on the housing to get a dark "black chrome" look. I have a 40th Anniversary Z and I can't decide what color to paint the lens shrouds... might leave them stock silver.

Anyone have pics or suggestions for the 40th Graphite?

Many others have used their stuff too it comes to you in spray cans ready to go color matched to your vehicle, they also offer the primer. On my personal headlights I used the Krylon fusion on the housings. Still looks excellent

Thanks for the write up and videos. I've been really wanting this done, but don't want to pay $$$.

I was mostly curious about the paint. You just used the Krylon Fusion paint from Home Depot / Walmart? I don't necessarily want to match my Pearl White paint on the shrouds but want like a gold/bronze color. Any reason why you put on primer, etc. on the shrouds, but only paint on the reflective housing?

Also, no problems with condensation / paint fading even after two years with no extra sealant?

Hope to do this soon. Maybe buy some halos from retrofitsource and maybe even drill out the housing and add landing strip LEDs. I dunno if I'm getting too ambitious for my first time doing this lol....

Thanks again! Wish you were in H town for some assistance
