Hey guys i just wanna share an alternative way to Trips way of removing the GTR button. It will take you 3-5mins max. Again it's an alternative way, i was tryin to play with it while removing my middle console. I originally used Trips way too.

ALL you need is a flat thin screwdriver!

Once again, im not taking no credit from anybody. I just thought it's nice to share it with everyone on forum especially the people with 6MT so they dont have to remove the knee panel. ENJOY guys!

Firstly its this. the GTR button. $36 from West Covina Nissan.

To start use the screwdriver to pop the whole button out like this. You will hear a click dont worry.

After you pop it out, disconnect the plug, you can always look at Triple's post to see how but its really easy.

This is what you shud see when its taken out.

Lastly just push the side of the button and push it upward to take the original start button out. Than reinsert the RED GTR BUTTON!

FINALLY simply reconnect the plug and push the buttons back in place and ohhhh yeahhhh :ughdance: there you go the red button!

Nice! I would just add a suggestion to use a plastic screwdriver or panel tool instead, since that plastic is really easy to mar with metal.

NissanGuy23 10-07-2012 10:20 PM

Damn thats easy, i might just do this mod now :)

Venoms72 10-07-2012 10:20 PM

Just ordered mine with a $3.00 savings from the rest. Coming out to a total of $33.97 with shipping from HANLEES HILLTOP NISSAN. They are offering free shipping for the month of October guess they did this as well for the month of September. As far as all other parts go they got a lot of other dealers and vendors beat. Give them a shot.

thanx for the legit SHORTCUT from the original post. Def worth the rep...+1 my man! I got this one done in less than 2 min and didn't mar up my panels.
Here is a useful tip. Buy a mini flathead where it doesn't have grooves on the tip or grind it down, also fold a little bend on it with a small balpine hammer and wala...you got a screwdriver that you can use to pry it out. I will however at a later time paint the aluminum ring flat black...just sayin.
