Just finished this up last night and figured I'd put a picture up to show the final product... awesome instructions by the way Caravanshaka, as well as all of the removal instructions for everything else. Even though its a night-time photo, did a black house and the lights!

Doing this to my car as well here are some tips i learned in case you were too:
Firstly.. to avoid confusion the red wire is your hot ( or positive ) and the black should be the negative... therefore the resistor should go on the red wire Secondly.. these bulbs have a positive and negative side: the side with the longer stem is the positive and it is vital they are all in the same direction Thirdly.. there only needs to be 1 resistor in the beginning of the circuit in between the power source and first set of lights on the chain... if you add a resistor to each whip (row of lights) they will get duller as you go further from the source due to the retarding of power through the resistor... lastly.. LEAVE ENOUGH SLACK in order to get the bulbs into the right place.. i just ripped apart my work as i had leaned these 3 tips the hard way.. i will post pics later for those interested? |
I give you props on this. However, there are already after-market headlights with all this pre-assembled and fitted... Again, props to you buddy! GJ!

awesome instructions came out very nice, but one problem the led's recommended are not bright at all, cant tell its on during the day. any recommendations on brighter led's that will work.
|
Maybe you didn't angle the correctly? Mine are pretty good even under the sun light (of course they wont be as bright as audi's) :)
|
no matter what angle you look at them they are not bright at all. on a sunny day you have to look really hard to be able to tell they are on.
|
Mine are fine... ;)

wow mine looks nothing like the pic pfdake has. nice !!!!!

Just ordered my paint online to match my car. Can't wait for it to arrive. Not doing LEDs. Just doing black out housings with Red color matched rings.
|
Can you believe I just tore the whole front end of my car apart and pulled out my headlights. I was going to bake them and black them out on the inside. My headlights do not fit inside my oven. This sucks. I guess I have to go find a heat gun.

Does anyone know how I adjust my headlights? Do I need to remove the rubber cover inside the engine bay?

I used the cardboard box and heat gun method instead of the oven.

Krylon Fusion for U.K.
Hello all :hello:
For the UK residents among us. I've been unable to find a UK alternative for Krylon Fusion, arguably one of the easiest no-primer Plastic Paints to use for light housing painting. We know import goods restrictions make it very hard to buy Krylon Fusion from USA. But now I found a UK source for the stuff: caswelleurope.co.uk They will ship next day. I just order a can of Flat Black #KO2519 :yum: send an email to Linda: info@caswelleurope.co.uk or Tel: 01420 474961 They have no PayPal though, good old Debit Card. Happy Blacking-out! |
Has anyone's headlights yellowed on the inside from the paint fumes yet? I read somewhere that if you put the headlights together too quickly and the paint isn't fully cured it will create a hazy surface on the inside. I'm asking because I noticed my headlights look oxidized but they don't feel oxidized from the outside. And it looks like it is on the inside. Would hate to do a restoration on the outside for nothing and it really be on the inside. I may just take out the headlights and tear apart, clean, reinstall.
