The manifold I purchased didn't include the unfinished aluminum part that usually sits on top. How essential is this to the install and am I able to fabricate one myself?

Motordyne m370 manifold help
The manifold I purchased didn't include the unfinished aluminum part that usually sits on top. How essential is this to the install and am I able to fabricate one myself?
