This is what I did for a demon eye mod of a 350z. I just placed a flat led inside of the projector facing the lens. Worked awesom as was a cheap and easy installation due to the 3m backing

NICE!! If that 3m tape held up there I'm not sure why I'm worried about further back of the HID bulb on the reflective shroud!

Man, thats looks so simple, thats what I am doing.. Thanks for the post VDC_OFF. I have a small 3 LED chip, it might be to bright, yours looks perfect. :tiphat:

Thanks! Here's also another mod you might consider. The new halos from retrofit are thinner than they used to be and tabless. Also the white ones look white when off not yellow. I found some diffuser covers on tmart.com that cover them perfectly. However there is a little bit of cutting you have to do to make them fit on the 370z lights. You have to evenly cut a few mm's of the outer edge of the 90mm and cut the 3 tabs off both but then they look like this. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/15/aqadydud.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/15/7ymu6u2u.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/15/2adate5e.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/15/udyqu2yz.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/15/e8uza7ed.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/15/pehazabe.jpg

That looks a lot simpler than drilling for multiple LEDs, do you have a linky for flat LEDs of choice? I would appreciate it!

Nice! You have a link to the halos and diffusers?

Nut_N_Much 12-16-2013 05:17 PM

I called RetroFit the other day about the XB's with tabs. I told them I was disappointed they shipped me a set with tabs. The manager said to call and place your order, they carry both (w/Tabs & wo/tabs) and to just let them know. I asked them if they could add that to there drop down menu, he said they would look into it.

That looks nice and clean, That is defiantly a solution to fix the yellowish/green tint the XB's have. Thats awesome man.. :tiphat:

Crap! I wonder if they will take back my XBs for exchange. I'll have to call.

I got some teasers today from my painter.

Thanks, you can just leave it in the comments or special instructions when you order. Btw I have seen some variance in color output from some of the tabless. At first they were a bluish white now they seem to be bright white.

They will accept unused halos for credit or exchange

Another thing to add is that with the diffuser, the diameter of the 70mm is increased greatly. This means you have to shave into the housing a lot and on all three sides. I am now considering 60mm to see if those fit better.

Meulen 12-20-2013 10:29 AM

OK.....

I was a little put off of the yellowish color of the XB's at first. To be honest, now that things are coming together I actually like it! However, my wife wasn't so crazy about it. I know....I know.... you guys probably think that doesn't matter, but the Z is "our" project car. :) Anyway, I looked up those light covers from Tmart. For $10 it was hard not to order them and give it a try. I contacted rhetrofitsource about swapping my XB's for the new White/white ones and they were ok with that. I think I'll just get the 60mm's as opposed to the 70's. My shrouds are already painted and I don't want to do anymore cutting. I've got the covers coming first so I can test fit things before I actually exchange the XB's. I hate to extend this project out anymore, but I want to get this JUST RIGHT, before I put them back together.

thanks everyone for your input, this thread has definitely been a great help!

VDC_OFF 12-20-2013 10:43 AM

Good luck man, Im waiting for my 60mm diffusers to come in the mail as well so I can measure and test them out too.
