Yea, at this point I have tried just about everything. (disconnecting the battery, getting my back up key, tapping, kicking, biting) you name it. Looks like I'll be holding off on Christmas gifts for family this year. Thanks for the response man! :eek2: |
you try a small metal hammer on the lock? i would tap it directly with some decent force from multiple sides.
sorry to hear about your xmas present situation. not a fun way to spend $800+ :( |

What lock are you talking about? (Beneath the steering column)>? Thanks in advance. J |

this is wat you will see. tap at this thing from all sides and press the push button. if you hear a wind up noise, it released it self and you should cut the brown wire leading to this lock while the car is in ACC. http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...ock-bottom.jpg this is wat it looks like from above. http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...91-unknown.jpg |

I still think it is messed up that on my 2012 the lock was removed.... atleast fix it!! I feel u guys with the steering lock issue!!
|
yep, i feel the same way. but if the car came with it, not much one can do other than replace it and hope for the best, or disable it while the lock still works. :)
|
@Baer383; where did you get it for that price? mine is out too. 2009 16K miles, revB. thx
|
To my dismay, the "Steering Lock" is still in full-effect. Doesn't seem right that we pay this much for a car that isn't working properly. 5k miles to 100k miles electrical problems, mechanical problems, like this should be recalled on all models immediately.. Son of a ***** :owned:

Quick Update:
The problem that is occurring is definitely the Dreaded "Steering Lock"... This problem is not covered under warranty, not recalled, and the part will need to be ordered. Without a discount the part retails for approx 800.00 That's not including dealer charges for labor which range between 120.00 - 140.00 per hour. *average* The guy at Nissan said this is a common problem that occurs on the 2009-2011 Nissan's and it makes no sense it hasn't been recalled. Looks like I'm totally out of luck on this one guys. |
where's the car now? at the dealer? if so, i suggest you go there an try the things noted before paying that kind of money.
