Default Custom Navigation in Cubby on 2011

I know alot of people have inquired about this..I tried to get that recessed look like the factory navi has.....I just bought a black 2011..I installed an add on navigation sytem using a GARMIN GVN-53 which is mounted under the passenger seat..I paid $600.. just for that...I removed the cubby and installed a touchscreen 7" LCD monitor..i paid $300..just for that.. in its place..What I did was I screwed a thin piece of wood and painted in black appox 8" X 4" up against the plastic rail pieces that run up and down that you see when u remove the cubby...Then using a headrest mount for the monitor I screwed that to the piece of wood. There were hooks and tabs sticking up on the A/C and head unit trim piece that i cut off and sanded smooth...then I bought a piece of black acrylic plastic approx 12 X 12"..i paid $10.00 for the plastic and glue...I took paper and made three templates from that. One template was of the lower piece that would be where the buttons would be on the factory navi..and made the other one to fit the left side which would also fit the right side to box it in.and the third for the top piece that would connect the left and right sides..For the bottom piece i used a heat gun to heat it up and bend and mold it to give it that curved shape to fit the trim piece that holds that A/C controls and surround the double din....After all the pieces were cut and shaped I used the acrylic glue and glued the curved piece to the A/C trim piece and reinstalled that piece on the car..This glue sets within 45min...after that I put the dash piece which had the A/C vents and ignition push button on[some slight sanding of the plastic had to be sanded down]..with that piece in place i slid the two side pieces in place and glued them onto the sides and the top piece..and reassembled the whole thing..It took me about 12 hours to do it all of a few nights of trial and error..The end result i think it looks as close to the factory look as possible and love it........any thoughts out there.....Brian
