Two-Tone Horn option...

I've got a friend in Tokyo, Japan who has a 370z. He pm’d me to say that it's possible to reset the horn to ‘two-tone’ (he’s done it himself) – apparently a few owners have done it on his forum (sounds like a crap idea to me, but each to his own). There are also rumours of other ‘tweaks ‘ that have been hidden in the system for people to find.
Apparently you sit in the car (with your intelligent key), press the brake pedal 12 times within 10 seconds, then press the horn 3 times within 5 seconds and finally depress the brake pedal 12 more times within 10 seconds and the tone of your horn will change from a single note to a two-tone. Repeat it and the tone becomes ‘normal’ again. Apparently, timing is critical. I’d try it myself, but we don’t get our 370z’s in the UK until June/July – you yankies/japs have all the luck!!!

"EDIT - Now that the truth is out there, I ought to warn any new visitors to this thread that it was an April Fools Joke - It got a few people who admitted trying it ......and maybe a few others who have kept quiet since they stopped annoying the neighbours with their mindless horn tooting! :)

I thought this was old news, isn't there a thread on it already?
One of the first things I did with my Z, besides tint of course. Although it sounded crazy, so I had to change it back. :D

Musashi 03-31-2009 05:38 PM

Frost how crazy did it sound? Crazy as in funny? Is it worth doing for a good laugh?

frost 03-31-2009 05:41 PM

It sounded like a sick horn that started dying half way into it.
I believe socal 370z did this as well.

SoCal 370Z 03-31-2009 05:45 PM

Yeah, it works! Wife loves the new sound.

Great catch Chubbs!

Sounds very Euro, I think I'll keep this hidden setting for a while! Thanks so much guys. It only took me 3x before I got it. Don't give up if you don't get it on the first shot, the timing has to be right.

Only 3? I must have done it 6 or 7 times. Timing is a bitch.

chubbs 03-31-2009 06:09 PM

Glad to hear* that it works on US cars too.

*obviously I can't actually 'hear' anything at all, as I'm 250,000 miles away in my study.

Musashi 03-31-2009 06:14 PM

I just drove over to my buddies house that has a 350z, he was freaking! I keep beeping the horn for no reason when I'm driving just to get people's reactions.

Yeah the timing is a pain but it's so worth it.

chubbs 03-31-2009 06:45 PM

I'd like to hear it - anyone got an audio clip?

semtex 03-31-2009 06:51 PM

Here you go. ;)

That's more like an 8-tone horn, lol.

theDreamer 03-31-2009 06:59 PM

Clearly Semtex wins!
