Just put mine in, went to west covina nissan, and got it for 34$ plus tax, your write up was perfect! Had it installed in 6 minutes lol thanks!

gmr19 12-21-2011 08:53 PM

Has anyone tried to remove the stock push button by gently prying it out of its current position? Is it absolutely necessary to remove the shifter trim pieces and I/P trim panel to remove from behind?

The button is locked in place so the answer is NO

It can be done, just not without f**king up everything within 6 inches of the button.

Doing it right only takes 10 minutes, a flat head and a Phillips screwdriver, but if you want to take the lazy way, please share your finished product with us

gmr19 12-22-2011 08:25 PM

Was just curious :P

LunaZ 12-23-2011 07:25 AM

You could be done already.

Question : Can i order this part as a "gtr ignition switch" from any nissan dealer, or is this part specially adapted for the 370z with a red button ? this means would this part work indifferently on a gt-r and on a 370z ?

I'm in France, ordered it from the Z-store but never arrived after 40 days, So I'm thinking : Why Didn't I ask my local nissan dealer ?

The Part # is from the GTR so it's same Part that the GTR's uses.

The reason I have a suggested place to by it from? Is The Nismo Shop is a supporting Vendor.

We encourage members to give our Vendors on Here a chance first.

You're local Nissan may or may not have this in Stock but you can just order it from them also.

Pretty easy mod and it looks great.

Cilwang 02-20-2012 06:05 PM

thank you Triple's. Guess I wanted it the complicated way. I'll ask my nissan dealer then.

UNKNOWN_370 02-20-2012 07:17 PM

Thanks triple... accomplished this mod in 20min. Ur the man.

Speedy 02-21-2012 07:20 PM

Thanks Triple's. Just put mine in tonight in 7 minutes. You saved me about 30 minutes figuring out how the dash came apart with your write up.

ZYCOPTH 03-03-2012 02:28 PM

Just another big THANKS...

Great write up. took all of 10 minutes to install the button and the passenger air bag button (it was scratched by the previous owner). i think it took more time reading the posts on DIY than actual install time.

SAMSKEE 03-16-2012 07:43 PM

Had it installed in less than 10 minutes. Easy easy easy! Thanks to this writeup I saved a lot of my time. Thanks!!

CMills18 03-20-2012 09:00 AM

Thanks for putting this up man it helped out a lot and didn't even take me that long to install at all.

omgZ 03-29-2012 03:46 PM

Thanks for the great write up.:tiphat:

omgZ 03-29-2012 03:51 PM

Damn here in the states the anniversary didn't have an option for navi

LMBmikeZ 04-24-2012 07:15 AM

^^yep! We got a fully loaded Z for our 40th! There was also the option for AT7 instead of the MT6! In Canada we got the better version IMO!:stirthepot:

I read through this whole thing but wanted to be sure before I start.

I only have like 200 miles new car.

Anyways for 6 speed where do I pry with my screw driver? I'm gonna wrap it with tape then pry at the silver bezel correct? But can someone give me a specific location on the bezel? Also do I remove the bezel below that one? The black one it sits on?

I've done 2 on the 7AT cars now and I was able to just pop off that bezel with my hands. I don't know if the manual one is harder to pull off. When I did it the first time, it didn't really start to make sense until I started pulling things off, then I could see in front of me where everything was and had it done in 5 minutes. I can't imagine the MT would be much harder, but it is possible. I would say just start pulling things apart, and be careful.

bonfire 06-21-2012 12:11 PM

Finished mine last night. Literally took 5 min. I just popped the bezel off with my hands. I was worried I would break something as I was pulling on the bezel, but just as I thought it might be too much pressure it popped up....

Glasgow Smile 06-21-2012 01:37 PM

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread, walked outside at lunch with a screwdriver and switched them out in less than 10 min.

tim_leary01 07-04-2012 08:45 PM

Just did this mod today. I was freaked that I would snap/break some plastic taking everything apart but thanks to this thread it was super easy. I did it in 10 minutes before I ran some errands. Thanks!

Z-it-right 08-11-2012 09:10 AM

NISMO install

Writing this while doing install

Don't need a screw driver to get shift plate off. Just grasp ring with both hands and pull up sharply.

You don't need to disconnect the hazard wire, there is plenty of room to just leave it connected.

There are two screws to take out on each kick panel, not one on each.

Easy 10 minute install, thanks for the pics though.

mwhit02 09-20-2012 08:04 PM

don't do what I did and unplug the passenger airbag warning light thingy. I did and when I was done and reconnected it, my airbag light started flashing on my dash, and I had to take it to Nissan to get it turned off. Disconnecting the battery didn't fix it either.
