Haha the only thing I broke was a cat! All the tools survived, even my knuckles. :) (stripped the driver side bolt so this was the only way...)

Weight
I read the thread, but maybe I missed it.
I see you weighed the stock cats in your pics. How much weight savings are we talking? 4 oz? |

Your dyno pics (Last one) shows a gain of 24whp/26wtq. What else was done to acheive this (Uprev/tune/CBE/etc.)??
How much would I expect to gain from simply installing Berks on my NISMO? What about with Berks & Uprev tune? I'd like to keep the OEM NISMO exhaust. |

So, does anyone know (real knowledge) what I could expect to gain on my NISMO from simply bolting on Berk HFCs or TPs? What about Berk HFC or TP with UPREV tune? Where in FL can I find a knowledgeable UPREV tuner? Sorry for all the questions guys.....Thanks in advance! |
arghh!! did anyone have trouble with the bolts connecting the cat to the H pipe? i cannot for the life of me get the outside bolts off on both the driver and passenger side. cant get a breaker bar underneath the car either.

bah...now to figure out how to get a wrench into the top 3 bolts! this is the view from the bottom...im sort of confused on the instructions, how can you even fish a ratchet in there! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...i/IMG_0047.jpg |
I used this method to daisy chain two wrenches together to a) get enough torque on those bolts and b) to reach them:
http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automo...wrenches_5.jpg You can also access that bottom bolt facing away from you by using an extension and sticking through the subframe in front of the camera. There is an opening, you just having to play around and find it since I can't remember exactly where it is. |
Before i put my new exhaust on i pulled off my HFC's to install the gaskets between the cats and the stock exhaust mani's... i got them off without having to go through the engine bay. 2 of the 3 bolts on each side i got off using an 2 open end wrenches like the above pic and the other 2 i got off with a impact gun, 14" of extensions, and a universal joint. **** was too easy. But, that was the second time they have been off the car. Not sure if it can be done that way with the stock cats.

phew...removed the bottom bolt, but now i stripped the THREADS on the top bolt. it just turns infinitely. guess its time to find someone that can drill it out :( |
Where do you put the floor jack to raise the car? You can't put the floor jack on the support-point since this is where the jack stand will go correct?
Thanks in advance |
Look at the very center of the subframe in the front. You see a nib there? Your jack cup should fit perfectly. Now jack from there and put the stands on the sides. If your jack won't reach way back there to get that nub then jack up one side first with the stock jack and then get that nub.
