DIY: Paddle shifters for base 2015

Adding paddle shifters to base 2015+.

I found the following parts which seems to fit (according to Nissan website) :

Paddle switch. Steering Wheel Transmission Shift Control Switch. 25549JK000

Lower clmn cover. LOWER SHROUD. Steering Column Cover. 484701EH0A

it sounds cheaper and easier to just move up a model instead of getting a base and adding paddles. :tiphat:

that's just me though.

next project: installing the LED sidemarkers under the Z emblem on the side quarter panel, since the newer base models don't come with it

Got paddle shifters used from eBay for 130, shroud was 55.

Whoa -- nice! Great work!

My humble suggestion for the next mod:

http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...irections.html

I find I prefer the paddles for upshifting in general and for straight line acceleration, but prefer the gear stick (after this mod) for downshifting and driving into corners. I found it takes the shifter from being redundant with the paddles to a great second option.

Reversing the up/down makes it much more much more intuitive (i.e, "grabbing a gear" to go faster and "pushing away" to brake).

Thanks! Awesome suggestion, I'll definitely add to the list :stirthepot:

You are the man! Thank you!!!

bustersfarm1 07-08-2015 04:29 PM

Has anyone got an update on how easy or hard this is to do? Or a how info yet? Thanks-- paddle shifters are the ony thing I miss in my base--'cause I love the smooth ride of the 18" tires.

marrawi 07-23-2015 12:09 AM

Hi guys, the shroud finally arrived from Japan. And as I promised, I created a video on how to install the paddle shifters.

The parts I got were the following:

1- 48487-1EA0A LOWER CLMN COVER HOLE COVER, LEFT
2- 48486-1EA0A LOWER CLMN COVER HOLE COVER, RIGHT
3- 48470-1EH0A LOWER CLMN COVER
4- 25549-JK000 Paddle shifters (used from eBay).

You bet

lgarcia 07-23-2015 02:50 PM

Glad to hear that the harness is already there, this is a must have if you have a base

Ramage 07-26-2015 04:54 PM

Does anyone know if the paddles in the Z are the same in an Altima or Maxima? Are they the same through the years?

They look different. (at least the ones I saw) they don't have the leather edges. but the infiniti ones looks identical.

Paddle shifter will, shroud won't. I found the oem shifters cheaper on nissan part dealer websites. Its was around 280 for shifters, shroud and caps are about 55. Use the part numbers I listed with the video to search.

Zbrah 07-27-2015 08:40 PM

May I suggest painting your Z paddles black for a stealth look ;)

Thanks I just wish Nissan posted pics of the product and not just a generic blueprint for the shroud

Where did you order these from? Did the part number change?

Thanks,

Calm down dude :)

Discontinued = not worth ordering from japan for them.

This is where I bought mine from:

LOWER CLMN COVER HOLE COVER | Genuine Nissan | 48487-1EA0A

LOWER CLMN COVER HOLE COVER | Genuine Nissan | 48486-1EA0A

Wanted to share this PM for others who may face same issues with ordering parts.

Magic Mike 08-05-2015 05:24 PM

Heads up folks! Dealers all over the US are out of those part #'s. They are backordered and from what I've been told its about a 1-2 month wait. I guess all base A7 owners are using Marrawi's DIY. His DIY is dead on!! There is no way around it, you will damage them.
I ended up ordering mine from this Japanese seller jp-carparts.com based in Kyoto, Japan. Price was just about what we would pay here and that includes shipping.

0-60 attempt: half a second less w/paddle shifter! worth it!

Hi to all,
I finally got all the parts needed to do my install, I got the paddles separately and they do not have the install screws. What size screws do I need for the paddles and how many?

I actually don't have the exact sizes, but you'll need two screws and two nuts. The nuts were European thread which you can find at home depot. The way I did it is I bought a bunch of sizes and did trial and error. It'd be great help if you could share sizes when you get them. Good luck.

2016 models?

Hi, I was wondering if the paddle shifter installation was possible on the 2016 base models. I can't seem to find any technical service manual that could show this via diagrams anywhere...

Should be the same, no changes in 16 from 15 as far as I know.

Man, seems prices have gone up since this was posted. I'm looking at ~$360 for the paddles alone. Then $7 for each hole cover and $75 for the actual shroud. I do really want to do this though. Can't watch the video right now given I'm at work, but I'll definitely watch once I get home.

barncobob 04-21-2016 06:32 PM

I rarely use the paddles, I prefer the shifter, old skool I guess.

You're right! I paid much less, but I got the paddles from eBay (used) I'd suggest you make an eBay alert and wait for one to be listed. The G37 ones might fit (not sure though) they're listed for $207 on eBay.

I used the paddles few times to humiliate few chargers and mustangs :)

Just a heads up. The paddle shifters can be installed on the base 2016 model. I just did this about an hour ago.

Edit: The bolts and nuts seem to be 10mm. Also if anyone orders the lower shroud/clam shell from Courtesy it is not currently in stock. Lead time is 2-3 weeks even though the website says it is in stock and will ship in 2-4 days.

I have a 2015 370z Base also. Do I need part 1 & 2 or just part 3(shroud) and the paddle shifters for this installation?

Just wanted to confirm that my 16 Base model just had the paddle shifters installed and all went flawless. Thanks ALOT to marrawi for the video that helped a lot of us members. I really love the added shifting capabilities. My Z's Rev-Matching Design Feature has now come to life and the paddle positioning just feels good. It's just quicker than the console since you don't have to be in the manual mode on the console shifter for them to function when needed.:happydance:

whitekong 06-01-2017 03:25 PM

great video, just finished the install, the nuts are m6 1.00 pitch and the bolts are m6x16 1.00 pitch... at least thats how ace hardware has them labeled.

B&W_Evader 06-01-2017 03:48 PM

I can't believe noone's asked this yet...

Can you do this mod on the 6spd manual? :bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl:
