i dont want to cut mine off my seat i would rather just buy another 1

You can find the connector (FSM will tell you the type), but you usually have to buy them in large lots (100+ units).

Go ahead and cut it. Very easy to put back together with a couple of butt splices.

madeinjapan 11-04-2016 07:58 AM

to bypass the steering wheel airbag light its a 2amp fuse

why cant this be used for the seat too?

Because they are different.

FSM has wiring diagrams, descriptions of operation, etc.

I know this is an old thread but I am trying it again. These are the ones I bought. Maybe mine is purple instead of red?

So I have used up all the extra wiring from the connector on the seat. Anyone know the size of the connector pins for the airbag connectors?

Does anyone know the specs on these crimp pins on airbag connector

I'd solder a piece of wire to the pins. YMMV

Hey all, just wanted to let you all know that my '09 was diagnosed with an OCS issue, which causes the airbag light to constantly flash. I purchased an occupancy sensor bypass from Airbag360 and after a two minute swap and airbag light reset I was good to go.

That just solves the weight sensor right? I wish someone made connectors for each seats airbag. I have tried multiple times and just frustrated. I would buy that sensor if there was another option for the connectors for each seat..

I couldn’t get this to work. I ordered 4.7 Ohm, 1/2 watt, 5% resistor. Any advice?

johnnydrama 03-18-2018 08:15 PM

Worked perfectly for me last week during my install. Thanks for the DIY!

so is this the expensive but easy solution to the weight sensor diy? and do you still need a resistor for the airbag with this?

The unit is (probably*) just a resistor that is "tuned" to the resistance of the seat sensor when it is occupied. The resistor values I've seen used in the DIYs on this site are to emulate an empty seat. I haven't looked at the FSM in a while but, IIRC, the un/occupied values are in the FSM.

*Couldn't find a schematic of the unit but it's replacing a resistive element.

Is there any disadvantage to always having the seat sensor occupied? That would just mean that in the case of an accident, the passenger air bags would deploy even with no passenger, correct?

It's been a while since I look at the details in the FSM (link in my sig) but IIRC, you are correct.

If I were using the vehicle on the track, I'd go with the unoccupied option (assuming no passenger). On the street, occupied (just in case there was a passenger). YMMV.

I’ve also had good success with the airbag 360 module. Only problem is passenger belt light is constantly illuminated unless seatbelt is clicked

Couldn't you get around that with a resistor in the seat belt harness?

Djraunch 03-27-2018 10:14 AM

Maybe a more experienced member could answer but honestly I’m not sure. I just live with the light when I don’t have a passenger. The resistors in the airbag plug have functioned flawless for me with no light

sirnixalot 03-27-2018 11:08 AM

do you still have the white plug from the seat belt plugged into the connector coming out the floor?

If so just disconnect it and the light should go away

Djraunch 03-27-2018 12:13 PM

Thanks for the suggestion! I didn’t know it was that easy. I originally connected it back up thinking it would throw an error if the harness wasn’t plugged in

Anyone ever find out the part number for those yellow clips?

Gonna need a couple. Thanks

Just installed my racing seats with the resistor fix, airbag360 emulator then did the airbag light fix and good to go. Thanks all.

pedrojotajota 11-26-2018 09:31 AM

Good afternoon.

And I tried this with my 370z, I put 4.7ohm 1 / 2w resistors and the passenger presence sensor, the error does not appear for a while, but at the same time the airbag light flashes again.

When making a diagnosis with ecutek, I only get failure in the passenger airbag.

I have the original belt support installed only on the passenger, the driver does not have the OEM anchor.

Do you know what can happen?

dts3 11-26-2018 10:25 AM

Now what would be really slick would be to put the resistor on a switch into the seat sensor circuit. You could enable/disable the airbag at will. You could even drop the switch into the blank 3 (assuming you have the blanks to begin with)

Anyone try the passenger airbag sensor in a fixed Bride seat? Wondering if the pad would fit fine under the cushions... Thanks in advance.

That's a good question. I wish there is an aftermarket connector that we can just plug and play. Coz those resistors might not last long. It would be nice to switch out the resistors easily.

Just find someone who's parting out a wrecked Z and buy the pigtails. Always a few up on Facebook or if you're not in FB, car-part.com has a hundred or so wrecked Z's from all over the country.

redondoaveb 02-06-2020 02:20 PM

I just did the resistor add for the Recaro that I just installed. I had to cut the plug off my stock seat (but I didn't care). I did the airbag reset and it worked perfectly.

ISO: SEAT AIRBAG CONNECTORS

I spent the morning calling all the junkyards within a hour of my house and not a single 370Z at any of them. I checked ebay, Amazon, Google Marketplace all without success. I even tried finding the OEM Nismo Airbag Bypass product without success. I posted on Facebook marketplace a week ago without success as well. I have the resistors and weight sensor bypass, however these little yellow plugs are impossible to find. Does anybody know where I can find them or have some for sale? I will pay good money for them, I just need to find them.

The FSM will have the plug specs listed. There is a generic connector type given. You should be able to find a supplier online.

Hi !
I installed 4.7ohm resistors as explained in the first post.
My problem is I m not able to reset this stupid light on my 2016 Z. I tried these process :
http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/4...install-7.html

separris 01-28-2022 02:27 PM

Just to be clear...?

There are two airbag lights...one located with the tach, and the other near the glove box for the passenger seat airbag.

To confirm, the airbag light located with the tach will turn off with the install of the two resistors and without installing the passenger weight sensor. Correct?

I have replaced my seats, and have the oem seatbelts connected. I have the resistor in place on both the drive and passenger airbag plug under the seat. I do not have the passenger weight sensor connected. I am getting a airbag code 15 (1 long, 5 short flashes on airbag light located with tach).

I just need to confirm that I do not have to have the passenger weight sensor installed in order to make the flashing airbag light go out that is located with the tach.

2011 Nismo#91 05-20-2022 07:21 AM

Will the 4.7ohm resistor work for any airbag in the car?

Where is this resistance value (4.7Ω) being referenced from?

Getting ready to do this to my 2018, hopefully the procedure is the same.....
