Yes. If you do the reset sequence, when you are done you will notice the dash indicator blinks two times slow, followed by 5 fast flashes. This pattern indicates the weight sensor is malfunctioning (in our case becuase it ain't hooked up) ... I am not a rocket scientist but everything I have read would indicate all air bags are functioning properly except for the passenger side. Not sure yet how I am going to fix that.

Awesome, didn't see your reply before, thanks! I'll have to pull the weight sensor out and hook it up with the new seat. Repped.

I will be in the same boat in 2 weeks or so, I will see if I can find impendance when someone is on the seat and without it.... see if 1) can make a toggle switch without the sensor or 2) leave it on all the time...

Pleasure. It's on page SRC-182 in the service manual (2010) ... that code sequence means the classification unit is malfunctioning. Anyone changing out seats will prolly benefit from that page as it has a chart with all the sequences.

I know the DIY says 1/4 watt does it matter if I use a 5 watt?
I know the difference is how many watts it can take before burning up so technically it should matter right?

Technically I think that's right ... I think the 4.7 Ohms fools the system, and like you say the watts only comes into play if the system says to deploy an airbag ...

martin82 07-19-2012 12:33 AM

I will have to see but I don't even think it makes a difference if the airbag blows, other bags will still deploy no issues as long as the 4.7 ohms is there...... But I have no idea how it works. From what I remember in highschool the more watts is just that how many watts until it burns up...... Maybe someone else has more insight on this?

Picked up a 2 watt 4.7 ohm resistor frys didn't have a 1/4 watt. Also picked up crimp connectors I can stick straight into the harness or also bought a made cable I can solder the resistor too and modify the plug. Maybe this weekend I will measure ohms on the passenger seat weight sensor and see what I gotta do.... I will update again once I do

I am here: Google Maps

That would be cool ... I would love to fix mine so it thinks someone is sitting in the passenger seat ...

I have spoke with a few people, didn't get a chance to do this myself, it looks like it is not just a matter of the right resistor for passenger side, we think it is actually sending information to one of the air bag modules............ I will give it a go in the next few weeks, for now my air bag light just blinks.......

I hope you guys figure it out because I would like to put racing seats in my car but I don't want any flashing lights going on, and I really want to keep the passenger side airbag armed.

Until then, i will hold off. Great info in this thread.

Is there any update on this? I want to change out both seats without taking the weight sensor out.. But if the passenger airbag doesn't work I can't risk putting my girlfriend in the car just in case of an accident.

From what I understand, removing the weight sensor out of the OEM seat and installing it in the new seat is pretty simple and straight forward. I have a few friends who have done it.
To me the bigger concern is getting the lights off. Either way, my seats are on the way. As soon as I get them in, I will report. Should be within two weeks.

Anyone know if it's possible to buy all the harnesses separately and the weight sensor ?? Can't find my stock seats -___- been lagging on doing this bypass now that I moved back in Idk where my stuff are in the basement total mess down there still:(

FireDan50 10-15-2012 01:32 PM

I've installed the resistors and tried the reset sequence but still haven't been able to get rid of the flashing light....i don't know if it requires putting in the weight sensor, but I'm guessing it does.

shayandude 10-19-2012 10:30 AM

Any updates on the passenger side yet?
Thanks in advance.
