IMNSHO, for a DD, a magnetic drain plug is not needed on an engine in good shape - the filter should catch any particles big enough to do any damage,

IMNSHO, for a DD, a magnetic drain plug is not needed on an engine in good shape - the filter should catch any particles big enough to do any damage, bearings (the biggest wear item) are made from non-magnetic materials, frequent oil changes will keep the system clean, &c, &c, &c.
But a magnetic plug doesn't do any harm. If it makes you sleep better at night, install one. YMMV
