Z Vandalized, any good body shops in the GTA?

- the rear/front bumper scratched and dented
- hood scratched from broken glass that was on the car (broken oven glass thats in the garage in front of my Z)
- trunk wont close due to the rear bumper being damaged, and im not sure if the trunk is bent that it wont close or if its because of the rear bumper dented, stock alarm did not go off, and when you press lock on your key fob the horn sounds each time you press lock, but it does not sound, only sounds when you press the horn on the steering wheel itself,
- and the gas cap does not open until you press lock and unlock on your key fob 30 times. i cant see what else has scratches on it because its too cold to wash the car outside which i normally do, and i cant use the car wash because water will come through.

im not sure if there is any other type of damage behind the rear bumper, they will have to take it off. or anymore scratches or engine.

i read the thread from the (smashed z) and a comment "ire" made that they also had problems, pm'd them, but yet to receive a reply, but until then, does anyone know a body shop around the gta, that they actually had work done on there Z. i would really Love to know and get feed back on their Zs, bc the blue convertible was waaaaaaay worse than me, or atleast it looks it.

i know theres a place called grand touring on dupont near ossington, they sell lambos, ferraris, roll royce, bughattis, if they do work on those expensive cars, and im sure they take super care and precautions with them, they can surely handle a Z, right?

but my insurance said they have places they recommend, and if i go to those ones, the work will be guaranteed for as long as i own the car, ive seen one of the places they spoke of, which is across one of my work locations, and ive seen them park cars on the street, as there lot can only hold 10 or so cars, and ive seen them lay down new bumpers on the concrete floor with nothing underneath...............

my adjusters english could be better, as she did not answer me when i asked if the work that is being guaranteed also includes the paint to match my vehicle, bc im scared that if it doesnt match, and the body shop disagrees and says it does, than what.. than she said its upto the appraiser to decide... so how is that a guarantee for me if im not satisfied..? and wont the insurance company be on the bodyshops side, bc if i ask them to redue the paint, not only will they be pissed, maybe? but wont the insurance have to double pay them? and if that is the case, then the appraiser may side with them..

i also called the body shop that is contracted by avenue nissan and spoke to the owner who seemed pretty rude.. i know shops dont usually allow the car owner to sit there and watch the work being done, but another nissan told me that there bodyshop that is also contracted out has a small viewing area, not sure how good of a view, but idk about there reputation, theres little or good and REALLY bad reviews for certain bodyshops...

i also asked the rude one, that i wanted to place a camera in my car as ive heard horror stories and that would make me feel comfortable, he said we cant have you baby sit the car, and well have to unplug it, i said it was wireless, and he said well then idc, not sure if he meant thats fine or not?

beefing up security, so it doesnt happen again, if it does, he will have to go through a few dogs, multiple hidden wireless cameras with a direct feed to private security and police, a gun, (ok, maybe not), sensor with alarm on a new garage door, light that will shine up the entire yard as well as one inside the garage, and idk if i will get a transparent, polycarbonate garage door, that way everything will be seen, even though there will be a light a camera inside as well. and of course an aftermarket alarm like i had on my 350z.

i actually lost weight, cant eat, cant sleep, and im a mental mess.. i love this car as much as my old 350z

Zeetah 01-15-2014 01:00 AM

sorry if some of that did not make sense, my minds a blur right now, and i cant think straight until my car is fixed, i just want everything to be perfect again

frost 01-15-2014 01:01 AM

Zeetah 01-15-2014 02:23 AM

Zeetah 01-15-2014 02:24 AM

gta Toronto !

Zeetah 01-15-2014 02:37 AM

it looks no where near as bad as it does in person, + all the scratches that cant be seen and some which i havent spotted, i havent even driven the car since the first snowfall and some ******* does this......

Ire 01-15-2014 04:38 AM

oh wow I feel you bro
sorry I didn't reply earlier I haven't checked the site in a couple days

as for my shop. I go to velocity autobody. they kept my car on the rack the whole time it was there indoors cept the one overnight (I brought it in at 5am and left it almost right in front of the shop lol)

I'll pm you more details in the morning

Boomer370 01-15-2014 07:13 AM

That is SH!TTY to hear man!

Who the FCUK does that!!?!?!??!

Velocity is awesome.

I believe Zefaulter has a guy that does awesome work

Elite Concepts does awesome work also, the owner has a Z of his own.

ElVee 01-15-2014 09:15 AM

Awful. :( Someone random just broke into your garage, or is this someone targeting you?

zefaulter 01-15-2014 12:52 PM

Really sorry you have to go through this. Velocity is the only place I will take my Z to. I have had insurance work done(on a different car) as well as touch up on my Z. They do fantastic work.

Get one (or two) dashcam and wire it(them) to the battery.

edit: Looking at the photos, this is a possible total loss.

Amuse370z 01-15-2014 01:38 PM

I also recommend Velocity, been using them for 4 cars over 10 years.

oh god plz dont say that, total loss already happened on xmas eve when i was heading out to dinner with my 350z when i hit black ice, right before entering the highway a few years back.

i can see right through rear bumper from the top to the ground, and as far as it looks, its just seems to be the bumper, no? i can see the crash bar? if thats the name, and it has not been touched, i dont think

2 total losses and ill never be able to drive again. i know it, or pay $1000+ a month for insurance, idk

i havent even driven my car since the start of december? or whenever it was it started to know, so its been in the garage for a while now, and like i said another car in the garage next to me, and 2 other cars outside the garage..

idk who would do this, i turn my music off and when im coming home late i drive slow, so i dont bother anyone, and my exhaust and everything is stock so its not that loud to begin with. but i know it can be at night on a quiet street, but why would they target me 1.5 years later, i havent done anything..

Zeetah 01-15-2014 02:56 PM

can i ask why you think its a total loss? thats scaring the *@^!@ out of me. im already losing it mentally.

ive seen threads of taking off rear bumper, and there just seems to be a crash bar along with some wiring for the lights, but thats it. my tail lights, fog light, have no been touched.

sorry for repeating myself, but i wont know any other damages until i wash my car to see for scratches or cracks and until the bumpers come off.

DEpointfive0 01-15-2014 03:03 PM

Maybe to soon...

But what else did you expect in GTA? I used to blow up cars with a rocket launcher that I found hovering behind a building

Sorry... It's funny that it's referred to as GTA.

Ire 01-15-2014 03:07 PM

If you want to take it to velocity gimme a shout. i have to go back there to pick up something i left there but its no rush. I can speak to barry with you and i'll bring harvin too so we can see what he can do. As for total loss its really up to your insurance appraiser. Barry will put it up on the rack and wait for your appraiser to come and take a look. I highly doubt its a total loss.

that said, yours is a very weird situation. someone broke into JUST your garage and broke a bunch of things?
What area do you live in (you dont have to be specific)?
i can understand your fears, id be pretty upset if someone broke into my house. its not just that you had some property damaged its a violation of your house and peace of mind

Zeetah 01-15-2014 03:13 PM

is velocity owned by an asian, just curious? i know that area, im usually uptown once a week.

im not sure if i missed it on their site, but i dont see anything about a guarantee on their work.

my insurance company said if i take it to there recommended shop, the work will be guaranteed for as long as i own the car, has anyone heard of assure on 90 wicksteed ave or assured downtown 32 eastern ave.

the velocity pics look SCARY ! did you see all those tires stacked up so high next to the vehicles that are getting work done? i dont even park my car next to any cars

if you dont take it to your insurance shops, it wont be guaranteed. thats how it works, the shops have a deal with the insurance companies.

velocity is asian owned. i don't see how that makes a difference though.

the tires were never an issue for me. if they fall (which i dont see how they ever could as no one touches them) they cover all repairs. its the final product at the end of the day.

ya i know, uptown is mostly asian and all my friends are asian, we usually do business with asians most of the time.

can you PM me more details of your situation?

i looked at some other bodyshops online who do guarantee there work, but there are a ton of these shops, but like i said i dont want to take it just anywhere..

im surprised velocity doesnt have there own guarantee?

im assuming barry works at velocity, but whos harvin?

not trying to be a **** but come on..I know it's your baby and all but give the shop a little leeway. You'd never eat a hamburger from a restaurant if you know what's up in the kitchen or buy minced meat from the butcher if you know how it's prepared or eat meat if you know how cows are processed, lived, and eat. All that said is that any decent accredited and insurance approved car shop will have your car done in right for surface repairs and if you're not happy, don't sign the approval for payment. Know your rights so you can stop living in fear. Camera while they repair? stop being so paranoid...if anything happens to your car, their insurance will cover it.

trust me i wouldnt buy an expensive camera just for this purpose alone, im getting multiple cameras in case this happens again for around the house, and i might as well put one in the car is all.. and this will make me feel 100% comfortable being at the shop.

and 1 month ago, my friend took his gtr to a bodyshop for the first time so get some parts installed, and the camera showed that they lied about which day work was done on the car and the car was taken to 201 kmh, guy was, arrested and shop is under investigation. oh ya, car belonged to my friend from york regional police. lol, thats why im paranoid.

i know what you mean though, its the end result that matters.

Zeetah 01-15-2014 04:13 PM

ill check out velocity, phone rep was very nice. snowing again... i hate our weather

zefaulter 01-15-2014 07:33 PM

I have a few footage during the time they were working on my car or moving it. It's really your choice where to take your Z. We are just sharing our experience with one shop because you asked

appreciate it, thnx

do you guys think it would be a safer bet to take it to a place my insurance recommends? bc the insurance said the work will be guaranteed for as long as i own the vehicle. but like i said, if paint doesnt match to my satisfaction or they damage something else in the process and dont want to take responsibility, will the insurance actually side with the shop to save money?

i guess i just have to pick one place and hope for the best right?... after all its just bumpers (hopefully just bumpers damaged and nothing else)

LMBmikeZ 01-15-2014 09:04 PM

also check out elite concepts

elite concepts is fine too. ive brought it to them also but they're also not guaranteed. phil also owns a 370 if that matters (but barry from velocity drives a 911) .... whatever it doesnt matter what the owners drive lol

I am not affiliated with either shop.

i dont mind just saying what happened to my car.
short short version:
- i spun out and hit a curb in the rain
- car went 180 and airbags on the drivers side went off. front and read bumpers got crushed. my CF lip was torn in half. my drivers side rear wheel was bent in half and my suspension parts on that side were ******. sideskirt was also heavily scratched and i think the rear fender was also hit cuz the wheel hit it coming up onto the curb.
- the tow guy was retarded (he actually didnt know how to tow at all) and ended up dropping the car twice. it scratched my GTHaus exhaust coming off the flatbed. im getting mad just typing this. whatever, there was a ton of scratches all over from the accident AND the tow retards.
- i got sick for three days afterwards from standing in the rain for 6 hours teaching him how to lift the car because he didnt speak english.
- ended up leaving the car in front on velocity @ 5AMish.
- harvin is this guy
http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/73...7df493ce16.jpg
he knew i was sick so took care of everything for me. he's also barrys friend (who runs velocity)
- when i was done being sick i went to check on the car. this is what i got back
http://25.media.tumblr.com/0a3a40d4f...p38mo1_500.jpg
i couldn't have been happier. perfect paint. perfect fitment. great customer service. but i can say it took longer than he said it would (but thats mainly because they had to wait for parts to arrive)
the whole time it was being repaired i dropped by on my way after work and if barry was there he'd walk me through what was happening that day and/or what part they're expecting to arrive. It was never outdoors unless they had to move things around in the shop and never left outside. the shop is super dusty btw so EVERYTHING was covered in a layer of dust after a day, but barry had my car detailed before i picked it up (which took another day but whatever, id rather it done right than corners cut to be faster)

and an additional plug for the car since i get to show it off a bit lmao
this is a week or so before it started snowing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk2_sTW9dOo

if you click on my pics button in my signature you can kinda see what the car was before. though i doubt you can tell much from those but i do have numerous pics during the repair process from when i dropped in to chat and hang out. you can see how dusty the car is and how they left it on the rack so theres no risk of anything touching it

sorry to hear about the Z but happy everything worked out for you in the end

lol, "im getting mad just typing this.", daamn, how was that not a write off? hopefully insurance covered all that..

so, phil owns a 370z and works at velocity, harvin owns the green Z (where does he work) and barry owns a 911, right

so all of that was taken care of at velocity, correct?

what work have you had done at elite concepts if you dont mind me asking?
and why didnt you just stick to velocity, any particular reason?

i phoned velocity and the lady on the phone said they DO guarantee the work and can get it in writing... ??

PM me anytime if you dont want it on the thread

thanks for all this info

Zeetah 01-16-2014 01:55 AM

on your youtube, or whoever that account belongs to, it states a gt wing is coming soon?
if true, your car will look like (youtube account name hyunsoo im) his Z, imho, i love it with the INGS GT WING, hyunsoo has that.

ive got some more questions to ask pertaining to parts and price, may i PM you?

Zeetah 01-16-2014 01:56 AM

it hurts looking at your car video..........

Ire 01-16-2014 07:49 AM

yeah i was on the fence about the amuse wing so i didnt pick it up when i got everything. i test fitted a GT wing a little while back and im still undecided. The INGs GT wing is one of the most expensive GT wings so im still not sure. the only difference between that a regular GT wing is the mounting bracket. it sits further back and i like the look, just not sure if its worth that price.

phil = Elite Concepts
barry = Velocity
harvin is just a friend who also owns a Z.

the damage was very superficial it turns out. it was a single control arm and just some body panels which are cheap. i didnt buy the body kit from Velocity, i have a lot of friends in the car scene and i had one overnighted from japan ;)

as for the camera control its another friend. he runs a youtube channel... yeah he does stupid **** like shifting with one hand, controlling a camera with the other and steering with his knees while following me weaving through traffic lol he drives a G35

pics are here btw : http://s-r-seventyone.tumblr.com/ or here http://instagram.com/kingsdestroy (more current but less car related)

SIKHRYDE 01-19-2014 05:16 PM

Hey Zeetah,

I'm the dude with the blue Z (that got smashed!)

Ummm as per "write off" I guess it all depends on your insurance? Who knows how it works... all I know is my damage is 24k and they are fixing it .... and I took it to an autobody shop of my choice - not theirs.... but when I told them I am taking it there they said thats fine they have done work with them before anyways...

I was also worried about the work and the paint job and all that other stuff that follows... unfortunately its too early for me to give any feedback as to their quality of work - I just signed the paperwork for them to start and they have to order all the parts bla bla bla - I am guessing it will take 4-6 weeks for them to repair it total....

The best advice I can give is talk to the body shop owner - make them feel good ... no lie (as corny as this may sound) I brought them some snacks ... lol if anyone knows what Samosas are ... you get like 4-6 of them for like $1 and everyone seems to love them.... so I bought $5 worth when I went in .... I mean I do that everytime I go to Nissan Dealership for my car and they always knock off the tax or something - so I spend $5 but get back like $20/30 in savings just for doing that...

Anyways I am going on a tangent - what I am saying is work with them. The shop I am going to, the owner agreed after the work is completed he will tow my car to the Nissan Dealership of my choice and pay for the full inspection - and that way I can feel all warm/fuzzy my Z was fixed the way it should be ....

I got everything in writing... maybe because I watch too much Judge Judy.... but better safe than sorry....

Sorry to hear that happened to you - I can relate... I miss my Z a lot ... and I'm stuck driving my moms Buick now.... well... at least it has A/M FM radio... lol... and a casette player!

Good luck!
