OK so basically the damage list came back and its $24,000!!

Anyways below is the full spec sheet.....

The autobody shop said they basically are all OEM parts with the exception of 2 items:

The Front Bumper Cover and the Front Bumper Reinforcement Bar.

I am going to try to contact my insurance company (Coachman) to see if they can give me OEM parts.... any tips would be great.

Secondly they are giving me 2 new tires (and rims) on the left hand side, do I need to worry about the fact that the rubber on the right hand side is used?

I mean I guess I dont expect insurance to put me in a better spot with all new tires.... but do I need to or purchase new tires so it is all even?

Lastly - this is where I can really use your expertise...

I have to replace parts like my front headlights... which look like to be $1300 each - so should I look for some custom lights now to install? If so any recommendations?

And what else should I do custom thats worth it based on this list?

glad it's getting restored

and be prepared for the new insurance rate on the next renewal... :wtf2:

as for headlights.... stick with the OEM.

tires.. check with the bodyshop to see if they suggest they should replace all four for safety reason

LMBmikeZ 01-03-2014 04:03 PM

:iagree: probably best to get all 4 new rubber

$24K in total damages and it's not totaled??? It's must be trashed and sorry to say but that thing will never be/drive the same. Hire a thug to go by and burn that bitch.

Z-Girl 12 01-03-2014 08:24 PM

I would have begged to have that thing totalled out, welcome to te world of rattles, thumps and creaks. I'd trade it, no way I'd want that back. So glad your safe though.

zefaulter 01-03-2014 08:44 PM

Damn, how much is a 2010 now in Canada?

DEpointfive0 01-03-2014 09:38 PM

A few things.
I know you're in Candia and you gotta pay import taxes and such, but the shop is having a laugh getting you a quote for 1500/wheel and 700/tire.
And what kind of jenky áss insurance is this? How much did the damn car cost you to begin with? What can you realistically buy another one of what you have right now? In January 2012, brand new 2010 MBlue verts that were sport touring were selling for $32k.
Also, make sure they give you a devaluation check.

And don't mod it. Sell it immediately. Go trade it in for a new one. I wouldn't drive that thing ever again
I can't believe you'd even let them fix it

Ire 01-04-2014 01:20 AM

yeh 24k and not totalled... theres something fishy going on...

alcheng 01-04-2014 02:05 AM

just saying.....

370z Roadster....

IDZRVIT 01-04-2014 07:11 AM

That's the estimate for damage. Did your insurance contact you about this estimate? I doubt they'll fix it and will write it off. The car is not worth much more than that wholesale.

We don't get anything for devaluation.

lots of Canadian import their cars, including Z, from US...

SIKHRYDE 01-07-2014 09:08 PM

Yah i'm actually glad they didnt write it off!!! I didnt want to see my car go :(

I think one of the main reasons is because the air bags didnt go off....

And besides even if I got the money for it - which I would assume would be around 35K , I wouldn't be able to buy a Z back for that price.... at least not a blue roadster.... took me a long time just to find the one I did!

Anyways thanks for your help everyone - I will follow your advice and stick with all Nissan Parts and nothing custom....

But maybe I should look into buying an exhaust since they will probably do the install + labour for no cost since they making so much money on this project....

As for the car not driving the same... I am keeping my fingers crossed.... they said its mostly cosmetic stuff anyways.... but I will stay optimistic

Since I am getting two brand new rims - is there anything really I can do with the old ones? I mean looking at it they still look good with the exception of some small scratches...

I will check the forum threads to see what ppl recommend for exhausts.... in particular those with convertibles.... that way the noise isn't annoying with the top down and u can still enjoy the ride!

SIKHRYDE 01-31-2014 09:12 AM

So went back to the shop ... they said my car should be ready in about 2 weeks...

Here is some pictures I took from before - lol doesn't look like much progress

Also, I am getting my car fully painted. Do you think I should get the bodyshop to do a design at the bottom and the front and back?

Before I plasti dipped the front and back - but does it make sense now to get it painted?

I was looking at these cars and it looked pretty slick....

Thoughts? Also should I be telling the body shop anything specific after painting the car? Like put on clear coating or something like that? (LOL I dont know any of this stuff as you can tell!)

Boomer370 01-31-2014 09:51 AM

Hey OP,

There is nothing really specific that I know of that you can ask them when they paint the car. Unless you are really going custom colours, finish, etc.

Otherwise the painting and finishing process are all pretty standard, unless you go to Maaco or whatever then you'll have some problems.

by the way the VOSSEN car is Vinyl Wrapped in satin blue, or whatever colour they call it at RESTYLEIT
