no they don't salt the roads cuz it rarely goes below freezing, if I remember correctly.

however the odd time they do get snow/ice there are literally like 19,000 accidents in 1 day lol

I hear you. I used to live in the Okanagan and could have driven her all year long too...

Roads are rarely salted here. If they do, I just don't drive the car for a day or two and when it rains it just washes all the salt away.

Another perk...being close to the border! I just drive across and fill up!

But we do have PST.:shakes head:

I used to wait till December 1st (my bday and renewal date)

But I'll probably do it Nov 15th, already getting cold and traction sucks, although we are getting 22 on Friday....will drive the piss out of it until mid next month.

nmjaxx9 10-24-2012 04:43 PM

Last year snow was here I put her in first snow, then it didnt even snow so I was able to drive all more. December and January were def good months, suprisingly it snowed in March. Summer months are always a plus. The way its looking this season should be close to that, or better. :stirthepot::driving:

I recommend doing the in and out routine. Put her in, take her out when clear, that way you can still have fun in winter months.

That would be nice! Damn makes want to move south even more just thinking about being able to drive it all year long. It's just another reason Ontario sucks I guess......:shakes head: we are highly over salted up here its disgusting.

I live near Toronto and this will be my first winter with the Z (purchased new in June). I just purchased my winter rims and tires. It's gonna suck a bit driving the Z in the winter but after having driven this car since summer there's no way I can drive around a shitty winter beater until spring ... life's too short for this. I hope we get a mild winter like we did last year.

sparky 10-24-2012 08:28 PM

I'm fortunate enough to have kept my previous car, an 06 Mazda 3, and gave it to my kids to drive. If we get our typical one day of snow they already know I'm taking it back. They're new drivers so best if they aren't driving in snow anyways. :eekdance:
Seems the last few years the snow skips us and dumps on God's country (Seattle) instead! :stirthepot:

CAN-ZED 10-25-2012 04:33 PM

Beautiful day today, awesome drive up in Hockley Valley, could be the last this year,
Car is probably going into hibernation on Sunday
Going to be a long 5 months :(

LMBmikeZ 10-25-2012 09:36 PM

Winter beater > then damaging any Z!.......IMO

Not to mention the other idiots on the road you have to be worried about with the slick roads.

X1000 paying a couple grand to get something to drive and not care what happens to it is peace of mind for me. :icon17:

LMBmikeZ 10-25-2012 09:48 PM

:iagree:

ShinyBlueZ 10-25-2012 10:09 PM

I decided to keep my old car as a winter beater when I realized after selling it, that was barely enough just to get snow tires and rims for my Z :icon17:

$1.10 a month fire/theft to insure it during the summer. I'll save my Z from salt/rust/ugliness for $6.60 a year

MD-370z 11-01-2012 11:10 AM

most likely :rofl2: I would be more worried about the other idiots hit me then what I am doing, accidents are just more likely to happen in the winter months.

MD-370z 11-02-2012 12:54 AM

true but i bought the z because it was capable to drive winter. zo6 i couldnt drive in the winter so 370 it was!

wheee! 11-02-2012 07:43 AM

We've had -10 for the last two weeks and about half a foot of snow. Freezing rain every other day and averaging over 115 accidents a day according to police reports....

mines staying inside.......

:iagree: kept the Z safe and sound under its blanket (cover), the cold always make the stupid drivers 10x worse!

alcheng 11-03-2012 03:40 PM

Should drive til the weather not permit me to drive it....

But with every other day rain... the Z is friggin' dirty....

I have to drive mine from Terwillegar to ellerslie road tomorrow :icon14: With Sasha's turbo kit on it. Not looking forward to it. Then it will stay in the garage for the duration of winter.

I bet that will be the only time you're not looking forward to driving your car with Sasha's kit on it.

Marcusz 11-04-2012 06:56 PM

I put mine away today until spring

6MT 11-04-2012 07:39 PM

If it keeps raining here, maybe the locals will bring their's back out of hibernation...

Ya... and I saw your tires in one of Sasha's posts..... lol

Mitco39 11-05-2012 11:36 AM

I made err! lol by the time I got to pick the car up the roads were just wet no big deal at all. It was terribly hard not to boost on it (I may have just a tad to hear the wastegate :p but only a few times). If it had been colded there would have been no way I was getting the car home, would of had to pick it up on a dolly or something.

6MT 11-06-2012 12:08 AM

Glad you got it to where it is supposed to be.

sinceday1 11-07-2012 08:23 AM

Z is officially gone to hybernation for the winter. Just purchased this winter's beater of choice, Mazda6. Hopefully she serves me well.
