So who has stored their Z

I am planning on the upcoming long week to put her away for the winter. Still getting ~+10 weather no snow but starting to see a bit more gravel on the roads mostly off trucks coming down from the mountains.

TripleBlkZ 11-01-2011 09:04 PM

So 6MT Red Neck Heaven whats that Calgary

TripleBlkZ 11-01-2011 09:10 PM

Ha Red Deer it is, lived in Edmonton for ~12years and watching the vancouver/Calgary game right now...

TripleBlkZ 11-01-2011 09:14 PM

Don't make me pullout a map lol... Surprised you guys haven't seen snow yet..

Isn't it great how the canuckleheads are dominating the flameouts?:stirthepot:

TripleBlkZ 11-01-2011 10:15 PM

Ha yeah for sure, still a die hard oilers fan, might even fly back for a game this year...would be cheaper then any Vancouver game even including the flight lol...

6MT 11-01-2011 10:21 PM

The Oilers definitely have a future and are fun to watch. My company has 6 seasons tickets, but I haven't been to a game in over a year. (55" LCD HD with 5.1 surround sound, home cook'n and much better beer:roflpuke2: )

TripleBlkZ 11-01-2011 11:18 PM

lol so true, about the same here center ice every year or we miss about 2/3 of the games.

Lemers 11-01-2011 11:24 PM

Didn't you guys get hit hard a winter or 2 ago for a few weeks

Lemers 11-02-2011 12:21 AM

Last year we had half inch of snow. It was removed from the roads pretty quick but the next 4 days had freezing temps (no snow). It shut down the city because water pipes where not winterized. I could drive no problem but I couldnt get a drink.

TripleBlkZ 11-02-2011 12:38 AM

Rofl I feel for you..:inoutroflpuke:

GaleForce 11-02-2011 11:52 AM

Mine has been off the road since October 27. Still waiting for a good detail and car cover. Doing a correction/winterizing on my wife's car first so the Z has to wait. Happy wife... Happy life ;)

Gurps 11-02-2011 01:20 PM

Mine stays on the road all winter. Living in Vancouver, we are lucky with little to no snow the winter and fairly mild temps.

Cafiax 11-02-2011 01:47 PM

IF the VDC still keeps the car going straight its good enough to be my DD :D

Da.Menace 11-02-2011 04:50 PM

Cleaned, Stored, and hooked it up with battery tenderer :)

6MT 11-02-2011 05:07 PM

is that tenderer or tenderizer?:bowrofl:

TripleBlkZ 11-02-2011 10:47 PM

Nice! Subaru! Just like the one my brother totaled :( good cars though.

I would post pics of the beater but I don't have any......I'll take some today after work and see what I can do lol. It's a true beater though! Rust bucket through out but drive train is strong (which is all I cared about) and the 4x4 works! I've had it for going on 3 winters now and have only had to replace battery, starter and patch a fuel line. Not bad for $700 beater:)

Pics to come soon!!.......

red6spd 11-03-2011 06:38 AM

Did it last year will be doing it again this year.

Dizzy 11-04-2011 12:19 PM

Sound asleep till April. Stored her October 23. A lot earlier this year, but that's due to lack of available time from here on it. I'm now in a 2006 Ford Escape I picked up a few weeks ago. What a difference!

Da.Menace 11-04-2011 05:09 PM

For those who're storing their cars this winter, Canadian Tire has the CTek Battery Tenderizer on sale for $50..

6MT 11-04-2011 05:32 PM

Ooo... that's pricey. The Solar SOL-1002 battery minder is only $39.95.

LMBmikeZ 11-04-2011 06:41 PM

Better yet how bout you disconnect your battery and let it sit for free! :rofl2:

Dizzy - congrats sounds like a decent beater!

Pics of my beater will get posted tomorrow it has been to dark every day after work to get a pic..... Then again night **** might be better to hide off all the rust/bondo (unprimmed or painted bondo to lmao!)

NFSZ86 11-04-2011 07:55 PM

Mine is going away the 9th =((

Can't you just reload your program if it is lost?

Only thing I have to reset on my car in spring each time was the auto window function and the center bezel clock. All other settings an saved data was there.

TripleBlkZ 11-04-2011 09:00 PM

Well I was going to store it next week but today I found a wear/tear mark on the roof

Took it straight to the dealership and spoke to the head guy :argue: first he said we will take it to our detailers and get it patched I'm like :bs: so he took pictures and said he is going to contact Nissan Canada and see what can be done.
I am thinking new top and have to fixed before storeage I don't want to deal with this in the spring and with my luck it will be a new guy there that has no idea of the issue...

There have been threads here that have said that the ECU keeps it memory with the battery disconnected. Your tune should be safe. Just to be sure, check a few threads on here about it.

As far as maintaining my battery, I bought this when it was on sale for 40% off.Motomaster Eliminator Intelligent Battery Charger 6A/4A/2A | Canadian Tire

No, I would lose the adjustments that were made when I had my Uprev tune done if i lost the battery. Yes, the ecu would do a relearn to bring the engine management back to its original settings. But that kind of defeats the Uprev tune, don't you think?

You will not lose your Uprev tune if you disconnect your battery. The stock ECU file/tune is replaced when you get an Uprev with a new tuned "ROM" file.

To recap, the ECU doesn't store the Uprev tune and the stock tune, it's one or the other. Replacing/disconnecting the battery will not revert the ECU back to stock.

this is correct.

IDZRVIT 11-05-2011 11:04 AM

Weather is holding up down east. May get another week or two of driving in before the fire and theft only insurance goes into effect. GaleForce is correct about the tune. The tune is programmed into the ECU in the ROM as he stated. I would never use a trickle charger as they can over charge the battery. Use a 'smart' type charger like the Battery Tender which is recommended by Harley-Davidson.

MD-370z 11-05-2011 11:32 AM

put the winter tires on last week, so I am ready for montreal snow!

ZForce 11-05-2011 11:35 AM

Never store it, maybe because I live in Sunny California. Driving days per year based on weather = 365.
