Default Dealer add ons?

I just finished my purchase with the dealership and should have my new roadster here for July 1st. But do have a question.....

The sale went well and got a decent deal but they attempted to sell me the leather/paint and undercoating protection...

Paint protection $499 CDN
Leather and Paint $799 CDN
Leather/Paint and Undercoating $999 CDN

Has anyone purchased this? is it really worth the $$?

I have searched on the forums and somewhat remember seeing something about this but just at work and couldn't find the original post...

stick to just the car, the dealer will try and sell you as much as they can to make more $ off you.

Paint protection $499 CDN - only covers rust originating from a stone chip etc..... however there is only two metal pieces on the car (rear quarters) everything else is either aluminum or plastic which won't rust

Undercoating $999 CDN- no matter what they say about how much better there's is, you can have the same crap done from a shop for $100

Hopes that helps a bit (correct me if I'm wrong anyone!)

Awesome thanks, was kind of thinking the same but never can tell what is a money sink or if it's was worth the price....

Yeah really looking forward to it arriving, surprising enough there was only 1 triple black roadster available in Canada currently and it was just produced and was to be shipped to Quebec but 2 months isnt that long....

Waste of money. Most dealers will do absolutely nothing for the money that you pay them for these so-called "extras". It's really a pretty shady area of dealing with car dealers. (Notice I didn't come right out and call it dishonest?)

Don't waste your money and tell them no.

Nice purchase. I agree with z370z, you can always get those services for less at outside shops...and usually better jobs too.

The absolute worst, most horrible seat in a dealership: the business manager office.

Rustproofing, VIN etching, clear bra, extended warranty, storage charge, overcharge charge, floormat upgrades, keys..."Keys?", "Yeah, they start the car". (Seinfeld).

I leased an RX8 once and kept pushing back on the hard sell. He asked me, "excuse me but you seem really negative about everything, is there a problem?".

I wasn't pissed at the guy because he has a job like the rest of us. It's just such a transparent way for the dealer to make its high profit margin cash and they don't even do it with class.

My 370Z experience was much better. Took an extra warranty year for the price of one of the ultra expensive tires that I know I'm going to lose in downtown Toronto construction zones. The warranty includes tires. He mildly pushed on the other crap but knew he had a cold fish in the chair.

I did also take that tire one year warranty wasnt much and sounded decent...but the other stuff I really wasn't sure.

When I asked him what really was covered by the undercoating and he said it would be a sound dampener; I was like it's a roadster- no roof I will have road noice anyways, Then he said well when you have to roof up and windows up it would be quieter....I said it will be parked if I need the roof up...he then changed the topic

Congrats on your purchase, I just got mine a few weeks ago, apparently not many roadster here in Canada so far therefore hard to get a deal as I wanted one to my specs..Forget about those add on protection ... you can get better on your own. most other owners suggest clearbra paint protection on the front end and I am getting mine put on just now

Thanks Susu, yeah I did/will be getting the clear bra done. I was lucky enough when I was there they had a Black 370z couple ready for pick up and had the clear bra done so I was able to see the workmanship on it.

I was a bit surprised on the roadster availablity and even have to upsell myself to the NAV just because I didn't want to wait till September~ to factory order one. I was even opened minded on a few different color combos but there is really not that much around here...at least we see summer like weather here for ~10months out of the year

I said no to the add-ons too. Did the clear bra at a tinting shop along with my tint job. It is very worthwhile esp if you're a highway commuter.

I did get suckered on those add-ons on my last vehicle and what a crock! I had issues with both the paint, and the seats, and was S-O-L on both, so it wasn't worth a dime. Total BS. Doesn't cover s***. Never again!

MSRP + Sport + NAV -$1000...I think it was a so so deal but got what I wanted.....I was just not happy getting hosed with all the taxes 12% in BC..

Slight deal on the Clear bra and install of the slash Guards/illuminated kick plates (just ordered them)..
