Default Need help with cardan

Hello to all.

Sorry for my english, it's way not perfect.

I'm from europe. Bought myself a 370z from usa. Cardan was broken, so i bought i used from uk model. After instalation it playes a little (moves forward and back). After unscrewing that side, that goes to differ i can move cardan forward into gearbox till it stops and then there is clearance between differ and cardan about 2.5-3 sm.
Hope, that you understood me.
Question is - is it ok, or i should make some intermediate piece about 2.5 sm ?

Hoping for your help guys !

Best wishes from Estonia.

A quick web search reveals that cardan = u-joint.

If the inside of the u-joint/cardan is splined where it fits on the transmission output shaft, it was made to move in and out.

The FSM will tell you more.

Yep, the inside is splined, but if i unscrew the u-joint from the diff, then i can move it about 0,1ft, may be 0.08ft.. should it be so ???

That is the driveshaft. If you disconnect it from the diff, it will move forward as it is supposed to do, into the transmission. Just make sure you put the carrier bearing back in correctly. If it has spacers between it and the body mount, make sure you put them back in that way. This will keep the driveline angles correct. Just make sure you got the correct one. The automatic cars driveshaft may be different from the manual transmission cars.

Exactly!

Op,

It seems you have bought the wrong driveshaft.

All 370z's come with a 1 piece main driveshaft.

Or

Then that would be a 300zx 1990-1996. That is what it looks like to me. Didn't pay attention to what is under the 370z even though I have serviced the tranny a couple of months ago.
