Stance Pro Comp 2 Coilover Review

Alright everyone as the title states this is the first review of the Stance Pro Comp 2 Coilovers. I first would like to thank Charles at B2 Auto Designs for the great service and great price in getting me these coilovers. Stance did not make these yet for the 370Z so he had to talk to them and I also wanted the Swift springs option for 13k front, 9k rear. The wait time on these was 7 weeks out of the quoted 6-8 week wait time. They came in literally a week before my first autocross event this past Saturday.

When they did come in the packaging was very good and came with everything even the new nuts for the rear lower bolt and mounting hardware for the external reservoirs. Since these were “true type” coilovers I decided to get the SPL camber and toe arms. I ran out of funds for the front arm’s but it’s the next thing on my list after wider wheels and tires.
The install was a pain because the one northeast winter I put my Z through made all the bolts tough to loosen even with an impact wrench. But I got everything on with a breeze. For the mounting of the external reservoir’s I ran the front through the fender liner to the engine compartment and the rear I used the supplied self tapping screws to mount them to the old not used spring perch. Once got everything on and car lowered on the ground I mounted the front res. to the Stillen intake tubes because the res. hoses aren’t that flexible and it allowed shock travel to not stretch and snap the hose connection.

Once I drove the car home the rear was wayyyyyyyy to low so i maxed out the rear height up. The manual said to set the compression and rebound to the 0 setting then adjust by two clicks from there. I decided to go more soft because I was just commuting to work 5 mins away and did not have an alignment yet. Once I got an alignment after 5 days of little driving the car was more of a beast.

Street Driving: On soft settings 3 comp front/ rear and 3 rebound f/r. the car is very docile and handles great. Going over bridge joints you can really feel the stiff springs. Also I noticed more road noise from what I think the true type setup and all the vibration and energy going to the shock towers. I also drilled a hole in the plastic for the compression adjustments on the rear shocks so that might be why also. When on the freeway and smooth roads you cant tell the difference between stock and the Pro comp 2’s. Bumpy roads is alittle rough but not too bad.

Autocross: Holy Crap! The difference I felt from last year and this year was unbelievable. I started out at the 0 setting all around. My first run I noticed the car was still alittle too soft. So I raised the comp 2 clicks and rear rebound 2 clicks also. The next run I decreased my time by two secs and noticed jacking on the rear on corner exit. So I decreased the rear rebound 2 clicks and still felt more body roll so I also increased the front comp 2 clicks. The next run the car was way too stiff and I was 1 sec slower. So I put it back to my last setting where the felt nice. I am running BFG sport comp 2 tires so that has something to do with it also, plus the first part of the course was slippery with dirt. The second settings I made were the best for my current alignment and tires and I then decreased my time by two more secs. for the next two runs. Whenever I came back into the paddock there were always one of two people saying I was flying and were impressed, (because I was). I was also driving on a new quaife LSD too so that was different than last year as well. The car was neutral and went right where I wanted it to with great breaking and cornering. My alignment was set up to my specs also which is in my journal if you want to look at it. So the final good setting was front comp- 10 reb- 8, rear comp-8 reb- 3.

Final thoughts: For the street if you don’t mind the added road noise or slightly harsher springs than these coilovers are the way to go if you have a dual purpose 370Z. The price was spot on for my budget, (cheaper than KW v3 and what's on the stance website). You get a fully adjustable setup and added external reservoir and you have the ability to adjust gas pressure too! Which im not messing with yet because lack of knowledge. For AutoX or track days/ HPDE these puppies are the way to go. Fully adjustable and DO make you faster. For the weight conscious people the reduced weight by switching to a true type with the swift springs also is a plus. I have had lowering springs and Bilstein shocks in past car and having all the added features of the Stance Pro Comp 2 coilovers they don’t compare. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The build quality was great, support for questions was great from stance, and the price was right too. The only downside is the wait, I was anxious the entire time and couldn’t wait to put them on. The main thing they were installed and set up for my first auto x event. No problems at all and I would recommend these to anyone in the future and if you want great service and no problems go to Charles at B2 Auto Designs here on the forum.

Note: I do not have any sponsorships or personal relations with either companies just received good service and want to return the favor.

Have you got any HPDE events on these yet? Do you have to fab up the reservoir backets or are they included in the package you bought. You mentioned maxing out the hieght adjuster in the rear does that get you back to near stock hieght?

good review thanks

just looked at the pic again and brackets are right there lol

That height gets me .5 in from stock but I also don't have it corner balanced. In July I'm doing a track day so once I go I can report back with an update for an hpde.

Nice! I love my coilovers so far. But good luck out there.

WOW! Thanks! My mechanic works with a supplier that is close with Stance. He's always pushing me towards their coilovers, but I was worried they just weren't up to spec with KW or Fortune Auto. Great review. I may lean toward these now!

Phuck Yha. You won't be disappointed. Did you end up getting a longer hose length?

Not yet. We just talked about valving and such. He has 2 sets, ones sold and he's a block away from Stance so once I pay the rest he has to pull the bottoms off the them since they're really only made for the 350z, revalve, bigger springs etc and I'll tell him then about the lines.

Nice! I'm going to add that to my list of things to do during my Z's hibernation period this winter.

Thanks, I grew up in San Jose then moved when I joined the navy, I could never drop being a giants fan even if I get crap for it at all the car shows/ meets and autox. These Red Sox fans out here are ruthless.

But back on topic, I've had these on for a few months now and no problems after 2 autox events a month since I got em. I just wish the lines were longer in the rear so I don't have to crawl under the car to adjust compression. But you can always ask to have them longer.

Congrats Looks good, I guess the guy you know pulled through good as you got yours in less than a month. What spring rate did you end up getting? Mine are just now getting annoying for my wife to drive it more than twice a week :) but I love it.

Yeah 3 weeks wasn't bad. I don't even think they started till 2 weeks ago though. It was good having his shop 18 min from Stance to push them alone.

I posted it, 18k/12k. Lol mine should kill my wife then.
