Lowering Springs Comparisons

Hey Folks,

I've been putting this list together as much as possible.

WE have a lot of NEW and existing members who ask about lowering springs, And so I hope this will help since this will be primarily for spec comparison.

I need for folks to let me know what more is available with specs of course so I could include them to the list as this will be stickied for easy reference.

Nice Thread Sir. Some measly Rep for ya.

Driftomodachi 08-26-2013 11:23 PM

Question, I always thought mounting lowering springs on stock shocks will blow the stock shocks prematurely. Is this the case with the stock 370z shocks?

Trips 08-26-2013 11:27 PM

There is a limit to how much drop the stocks will take, and the more aggressive the drop? The higher chances of premature wear or blowout.

Zbrah 08-26-2013 11:34 PM

The Swifts are specifically designed to work with your oem struts so they won't put much more stress than oem spring. I've had an og member telling me he is still running on his oe shocks 2 years after the swift installed, even with the occasional hard driving on the track. About 90% of the owners here use Swift spring, and for good reason.

Driftomodachi 08-26-2013 11:41 PM

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I'll probably get the swift springs but I'll still probably get some Tokico or KYB shocks just to be safe if I don't get coilovers.

Eibach pro kit F 8.6kg R 9.5kg

Need to add the stock NISMO springs to this

Juice14 08-27-2013 09:51 AM

Great info!!!

Tein springs were developed to use the OEM struts as well. We should put up the stock springs as well.

Thank You

Thank G!

H&R Does not publish spring rates and explains it here.

H&R Special Springs, LP Spring Rate

Also, it is recommended to swap out oem shocks when installing lowering springs.

haitech 08-28-2013 12:16 AM

Very good info. Hopefully people will read this before posting.

If swift springs are designed to work with stock struts, does it make sense that less drop would be even better, (i.e. Eibach, or tein)?

Yes.

Remember that the more of a drop the shorter the shock life when it comes to lowering springs.

Xplicit97 09-15-2013 05:19 PM

I have the ark GTS on my Nismo with OEM Nismo shocks and I love mine, I believe they were engineered to work with factory shocks as well. A bit more of an aggressive drop than the swifts

so with the higher spring rate for countering whatever drop caused by swifts, it makes sort of cancellation effect which is close to oem setup, if not better yea?

(atleast that's how it goes in my head lol)

Hello

Just thought i would add my 2cents worth here.
Car has 104,000 km on the clock.

I installed Pedders Sportsryder Coil Springs (Part:220042 Front - Part:2925 Rear) 60,000 kilometers ago. Still have the OEM shocks.

I found these coils very good in all this time. I have noticed lately my ride quality is starting to get a little 'funny'.

Time to replace the shocks - only I am not sure what will match the coil spring rates - and I am looking to no avail.....

Since I have had no problems with the OEM shocks - and they have lasted this long, I thought i might get some OEM shocks that suit the Nismo 370z.

thoughts?

Here are a few comparison shots for the undecided:

ARK Performance GT-S

I'm very happy with my Swift springs, but looking back, I should've bought ARK springs instead. The drop in both variations just look so much better.

Awwthentic 02-23-2014 03:57 PM

thanks this helps a lot

MagmaREDZilla 04-14-2014 10:07 AM

Ark gt-s lowering spring info should be updated as the Ark website states:

Drop / Rate: Front 1.40" Rear 1.20"
Spring Rate:
Front: 4.7-9.5 kg/mm
Rear: 5.5-10.7 kg/mm

What would be the correct spring rate as they state F:4.7-9.5k? and R:5.5-10.7k?:ugh2:

MagmaREDZilla 04-14-2014 12:59 PM

If anyone else has the same question, i called ARK and they said it's about 9 for front and 10 for rear, so i believe the front is 9.5 and r:10.7 kg/mm as stated as above. Seems like a good option for some one looking to buy swifts but need a lower drop!

mselph544 05-15-2014 11:55 AM

mmmm, that drop with the ARK looks perfect! I was looking into Tein, but I'm glad I stumbled across this thread. I had coilovers on my 2013 Accord coupe, but I never really played with them a whole lot, so I opted to go with springs this go around. Cheaper and less option for mechanically failure I guess.

Awesome! Thx OP

kenchan 05-15-2014 02:01 PM

if going just by appearance, swift looks the best for me. honestly i prefer the stock ride height.

i dont like this car riding real low. looks like a toad that got stepped on. :ugh:

I just had the eibach pro kit and sway bars installed with the eibach camber kits to bring it all back to proper adjustment. Feels reel good and cornering and breaking on my '13 sport is much improved. I have noticed that the front "creeks" like an old wooden floor when I go over bumps or into and out of driveways. It's not bottoming but more of a noise. Should I be worried? It was done about a month ago by a well known shop with a tone of Z experience.

kikkomon 06-22-2014 09:51 PM

I previously owned an s2000 and I bought swift spec springs for it. After checking the stock rates I wanted much stiffer springs. Accordingly to swift their springs should have been much stiffer but to my surprise they were not. I installed them on the car and had a more supple ride. I'd like to buy the swift springs for my nismo but I do not want it to feel softer. Has this been thr case for any nismo owners?

freit15 06-23-2014 02:13 PM

I had the swift springs installed on my base model with sport package this weekend. I also had the same feeling you had on your s2000 kikkomon. It feels softer than stock. Along with the springs 20" Avant Garde M368 were also installed

Did they take the stock rubber boots (not sure the correct term) off your oem springs? If not the springs might be rubbing on the base of the strut, causing the creak.

iCraigerz 06-27-2014 10:33 PM

Hey guys, maybe someone could chime in. I'm in a 13' Nismo riding on 275/30/19's & 305/30/19's and my question is would the Ark GT-S springs be too much? Maybe someone on here has ran a similar setup?

adidascanada 07-06-2014 01:47 PM

Great thread. This really helped this noob out. :happydance:

erichans_Z 08-10-2014 11:07 AM

Noob time!

so, can I assume that in regards to a 370z base, the NISMO springs are the same/simular ride height as stock springs then?? was thinking about picking up a set of NISMO springs for my girls new 370z base, but was hoping for a subtle drop (like .1 to .5 inch) with a little "sportier" feel.... :iono:

pL4tiNumfi5t 08-13-2014 12:39 AM

If I recall correctly, the S-tune Nismo springs are supposed to lower 0.4in (some say front rides higher?), but not sure about the OEM Nismo.

RS-R can be added to the list:

RS-R Down Sus Lowering Springs
FRONT: 0.4-0.6'' REAR: 0.4-0.6''
FRONT: 8.15kg REAR: 8.87kg

Getting a Ti2000 set installed on Friday, will see where they settle

speedytl 09-05-2014 01:31 PM

Just got the ARK GT-F even drop front and rear a little stiffer than stock thick A$$ springs and paint lol glad I when with this.

Flybyenature 09-11-2014 08:01 AM

Just ordered Ark GT-F's I like the reviews so far cant wait to receive them!

$haq 370z 11-04-2014 01:07 PM

1slow370 11-04-2014 03:14 PM

we need to edit the first post to say "deleted the old thread and just summarized it into *don't waste your time and just get the swift springs*"
