How long is the flat part in the middle? 11" doesn't sound quite right. Most of the ducts I saw were in the 8-9" range if my memory is correct. It may make hose routing a little interesting, but I would think it would work.

Idk I am trying to figure this out before my bumper gets here by the end of this week. Maybe someone with an amuse kit can chime in and measure it for me

LukasC 07-30-2013 12:50 AM

Well I purchased the NACA ducts should be here today and will attempt to make this work!

I decided to go with the revotec 4" (102mm) circular air inlets connecting to the Stillen brake cooling kit (like the yellow Nismo pictured in a previous post). The inlets were about $50 and the Stillen kit is approx $235. I'll let you know how it goes as well.

First of all, OP- Great job! I really like what you've done here! We were looking to see what we could do for the Nismos but we do have a lot of customers tell us that they don't want to cut ANYTHING on their car, so we didn't want to have to cut into the undertrays either. With that being said, this is for sure what I would do if I had a Nismo.

ok not really a question for the nismo owners, but i'm curious about the non-nismo front bumper...it has these plastic caps that look like potential fog light holes or potential brake duct holes... Does anyone know of people using these as such?

This picture is from a company using them as custom short ram intake holes with plastic tubes that lead back into the engine bay...

This is actually how our kit attaches for the factory fascias. We offer two options, one for the factory fascia (picking up air right where you point to) and the second option is for STILLEN fascias that pick up air from the modular/optional brake cooling ducts. This option can also be used for Nismo's and other fascias.

what do you have the hose attached to at the brake? Is there a bracket you installed? Do you have any pics of that?

Stillen was a real pain about selling just that portion of the kit to me, but finally did once I got to the right person

And chance a pebble will be thrown up and go as far as to ding the rotor/get caught between the pad?

It is always a possibility that a stone could get in but not a huge risk. If you were concerned you could run mesh in the hose as a safety measure.

Installed my Nismo RC ducts last Friday and will be running the hoses from the ducts to the brakes this weekend. I'm inserting a piece of screen (Lowes hardware dept) between the duct outlet and the 4" to 2" reducer to keep debris away from the rotor.

I also used the stillen backing plates to moun the hoes onto at the wheel end.

who'd you talk to over there? i want just the backing plates as well

martin82 08-14-2014 07:26 PM

Just drill a 3" hole on the dust shield: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aa...2160/overview/

it's all you need and a few rivets!!

takjak2 08-24-2014 07:57 PM

Tread back from old'.

@Chops: Kyle sorted everything out for me.

@Martin: We don't really have dust shields from the factory to do that.

gbrettin 08-27-2014 02:50 PM

Very cool thread... I'll be doing this next year.

Rusty 08-27-2014 09:32 PM

The way the OP has his air inlets located. Wonder how much air is getting to the rotors?

Zthirty4NISMO 06-16-2017 08:55 AM

Good to know there's a second option out there for nismo owners. Especially if they are boosted too. Just now seeing this after knowing about Rusty's DIY for some time. Has anyone besides the OP done this yet? I'd reach out to him for how it's been working but hasn't been active in 2 years. Wondering how the airflow is as well.

Sorry for the bump..
